'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

He made the comment that he liked the fact that UT did not pressure him to commit this weekend. Does that mean that we are waiting on Prater first?

It also is in regards to some schools like Bama who almost have our spots filled for 2010. The coaches would love to have him but at this point it pretty much comes down to who commits first. I do not think we are going to wait on anybody at this point, but again we would really love to have him. My understanding is the coaches told him they need one more WR and would like to have him, but if someone they want on the board commits before him they will take them. I think the ones they might still be targeting that I am aware of are as good, not better, but still they feel good either way. Now if they don't get someone else to commit earlier and he still wants to come I am sure they will take him. Another thing is we might not take another WR this class since we have a few greyshirts that might add to our 2010 class. So who knows at this point. But I do know that us and a few others wanted a early decision from him.

You are wasting your time if you are worried about Prater. It will be USC,Oklahoma, or UT. Probably in that order.

You might want to read some of my post before you make a statement like that. I actually find it amusing. I have stated plenty of times that we will not get Prater. He has never visited or has made any plans to do so as of yet. Maybe the future might change but I will say again he goes to Oklahoma as my guess. At no time have I ever stated anything else. What I really like is posters that assume any player that is interested in UT would never be interested in UA.

BTW the WR we are waiting for is K Allen who has stated that he will make his decision soon and it is between UA and Oregon. I guess he wouldn't be considering us either and it would be a waste of our time if he also liked UT.

UT and UA have ben in alot of great recruting battles over the years. back in the day majors use to recruit alabama fairley well and fulmer did a fair job in that state to.

Prater will commit to USC.

It would be nice to lock him up, even if it's done silently, now that it looks like Prater to USC is a done deal.

Cobbs is back from Tennessee
August 11th, 2009

Demarco Cobbs is a hot commodity on the recruiting circuit, and has many programs chomping at the bit to just get a visit from the playmaker out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Recently, Tennessee was lucky enough to host Cobbs on an unofficial visit. How did Cobbs like his visit? Find out that, and more, inside.

Cobbs spent some quality time in Knoxville this past weekend, and discussed with TR what he liked so much about his visit.

“It was pretty cool cause I was excited about hanging out with the staff,” Cobbs said. “The coaching staff is ridiculous, almost all the guys have experience coaching in the NFL, there’s some Hall of Fame coaches too with Monte Kiffin and Coach Orgeron. The whole coaching staff is ridiculous, they got a real good coaching staff, I expect them in the future, if not sooner to win a lot of football games at Tennessee. I really enjoyed myself, Coach (Frank) Wilson, the receiver coach, and I had some time to talk, and I spoke to a few players like Denarius (Moore), Nu’keese (Richardson), GJones (Gerald Jones, (David) Oku and what not. All the coaches were pretty cool, I would say I bonded and got to know everybody and see their works and the intensity of the practice. I bonded pretty well with all the coaches.”

In fact, Cobbs enjoyed his visit so much, he decided to stay an extra night.

“The reason I did that (extend his visit) is because I enjoyed myself so much I just wanted to be around the coaches at least one more day and just seeing everything I wanted to see everything and see practice and that’s why I did that.” he said.

How would Cobbs compare his visit to Tennessee with other schools he’s seen?

“Well, basically I had a lot more time to sit with the coaches and the players getting to see everything, my other visits I was either at a camp so I didn’t really get to spend time with the coaches like that, but I can’t really compare them right now cause I was at a camp and Tennessee was an unofficial, but the visit was great though.” Cobbs offered. “I would have to say them and LSU (have been the best).”

As for other schools, Cobbs claims a Top 6, but admits that three are starting separate themselves from the pack.

“LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee,” Cobbs said of his Top 6. “As of now, actually LSU, Tennessee, and Alabama are kind of ahead of Georgia Oklahoma and Florida ,but I don’t have any stand out schools.”

Cobbs has a few schools in mind that he would like to take official visits to, and knows what he’s going to look for on those visits.

“I haven’t set it up by I’m definitely going to take official visits to LSU, Tennessee, Alabama and I’m going to take one to Arkansas. I just feel like I need to take one there. (to Arkansas)”

“Just a family environment where the players are one heartbeat, they get along with each other, maybe get into a scuffle at practice, but that’s part of competing, and being able to shake it off at the end say, ‘hey lets go out tonight, lets do something, lets have fun,’ Being able to have that type of brother hood, bonding real well with my position coach and help my team win. Academics too.”

What was the feeling you got from this kid? You think he's loving the Vols and silently commiting? Seems like he's all Orange to me.

He is NOT silently committed, trust me on that. I think he likes the Vols a lot, and we're #1 right now. I think that our only real competition will be LSU, maybe Bama. Told me he will commit on NSD.

i think arkansas could be a real dark horse, i think in the next few years that program is going to be coming on strong, i think they will make noise this season. they will get a big win, maybe 2!

Either you're a closet Arkansas fan or a pitiful USCe fan looking for a new team...

i dont disslike arkansas near as much as i do USC lite. but im just saying i dont think arkansas should be overlooked.

geeze what is wrong with some of you guys last week i got accused of being a closet bammer because i said i didnt hate them and respected the traditon of their program (minis the cheating in recruting)

im a vol fan threw and threw if you knew me you wouldnt question that , its only about 3 generations deep in my family, i was dressed in orange and white from the day i was born.

and i should clarify what i mean by coming on strong, 9 wins and playing for an sec title is verry strong for arkansas, for us its a NC you have to put it in perspective.

It's ok I'm a closet Vandy fan... but I hate them as much as any other team with they play the Orange.

if i were to pick a 2nd sec team, id probley have to go with ole miss or LSU :ermm: but 85% of the lsu fans i know are douches and i dont think i know any ole miss fans LOL

I kinda like LSU since I have a ton of family there, but if the game has any impact on Tennessee, than I root for whatever outcome will help us out the most. Same deal with Ohio State.

I kinda rooted for Michigan as a kid... Always Tennessee first, though. I just liked their jerseys and helmets and basketball team, too...

I think Cobbs will most likely commit before signing day, but signing day is just what he told me when I asked.
