'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

Remember the guys on Scout and Rivals write for their teams and mislead their readers all the time to get people to pay to see the junk they right.

LSU, Tennessee to receive official visits from ATH DeMarco Cobbs Under Armour All-American athlete DeMarco Cobbs (Tulsa, Okla./Central) still maintains a top six of Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida.

ESPN affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com reports that Cobbs will definitely take official visits to LSU and Tennessee, schedule permitting. The other destinations are to-be-determined, "The other three officials, I don't know yet. I'm still questioning those three visits."

The No. 17-rated overall prospect in the ESPNU 150 rushed for 1,307 yards and 23 touchdowns, threw for 1,108 yards and six scores and posted 236 receiving yards and two touchdowns last fall.

Dropped a big shock on me considering how late it is. Huge call I might add. Told me Vols are his number 1 school....said he wanted to clear the rumors about a scout article saying they weren't in his top 3...source volnation thread

His top 3 are UT, LSU, and Alabama. Oklahoma is currently 4th.

I think when it's all said and done it will be between UT and Oklahoma (due to instate pressure).

Does anyone know for SURE what we're recruiting him as? I know he's listed as a WR, but most consider him an athlete and he may not be the best route runner. I've read that he could gain 10-15 lbs and be a terror of a LB. Also, he's listed at 6'2 by most services but he's supposedly more like 6'4 and around 210lbs....

It will not be between UT and Oklahoma at all. It will most likely be between us and LSU, the only reason he has Oklahoma is his top 6 is to keep people off his back... He's barely even considering them.

And he will play WR.

I think Cobbs was quoted as unequivocally saying he will be a WR in college.

I think we land this kid & Bray, giving us 6 4* recruits. I also think M. Taylor & Z. Fulton will be bumped up to 4* by the end of their Senior year giving us 8 4* recruits.

I also don't think Oklahoma has a dog in this fight. Tulsa players for Oklahoma is like Memphis for UT. For whatever the reason they don't look to the state flagship school as their first choice.

Because going from Tulsa to Norman is like going from Nashville to Tuscaloosa.

Not hearing anything in a while about Cobbs recruitment relative to Bama. Don't know if Bama has cooled on Cobbs or vice versa or a little of both or none of the above. Awfully quiet though. IMO, it's looking like UT could be way out front for Cobbs -- at least for now, anyway. LSU is likely UT's main challenger. Although it does seem like he's been somewhat prone to changing his leader(s), I'm sensing that he'll end up committing to UT and possibly even fairly soon. JMHO.

UT's main challenger isn't LSU. Not knocking you for not knowing. There's no way you could have. But our main competition is a team not on his top 5 list. We are out in front of them right now though and I feel good about it.

Didn't get the PM I sent you did you, Sab?

How many WR prospects are we gonna sign? I know Cobbs could play DB and Delvin Jones could go to DE, but was just wondering what you guys thought about the max # of WR they would sign - or are they like some NFL guys just taking the most talent available once all other critical areas are filled.

USC or UF? maybe Texas?

Thanks, Sab. You're right I know little about what the real deal is with Cobbs. Just trying to let you guys know that I'm not picking up any vibes at all lately that Bama is seriously in the hunt. I'll share anything I hear that may be of interest to you guys.

Appreciate it. You guys are still in it according to what I hear, but probably behind a couple of other schools. You know how official visits can change things around though. His unofficial here certainly helped us.

The current class is coming together rather nice. We are currently on the verge of a top 10 class. D-line will probably be #1 overall and it all starts upfront for the Defense. The QB position will take care of itself and the staff will get their 2 QB's before its all over. With a winning season of 7 to 8 wins we'll definitely win over a few recruits that we're on the fence with. Cobbs more than likely WILL be a Vol. The staff knows who they want and is doing an excellent job coaching and recruiting. I'm waiting on Reaves to make something happen.

On Scout, UT has the #10 class with Jones commitment...

I think we are between 10 and 12 with our JuCos ranked right now. We have more and better JuCo players than the teams ahead of us. Delvin Jones likely moves us up to 15th in the current rankings.

Talked to Cobbs last night on Facebook. He is a real down to earth kid. He said that Neyland Stadium blew him away, that he had never seen a stadium that big. Said that he LOVED the new locker room & that we were recruiting him to play WR. Said that he just loved his trip all around & that he hasnt made his mind up on what game he wants to visit but that he is def taking a visit. I was telling him about the Vol Walk & he said that the players & coaches were telling him about that when he was here & that he cant wait to expierence it in person.

I really think this kid is a Vol lock. He told me to hit him back up again that he doesnt mind me writing him.

Eh but the NCAA does.

All this contacting recruits stuff is just out of hand. Nobody should be talking to these kids at all unless you are a reporter or work for the AD.

All i did was say thanks for the add, he replied by saying no problem man you ready for football season & the conversation started from there. I wasnt trying to talk him into coming to UT, if these kids arent allowed to talk to people with a regular conversation on Facebook then the NCAA needs to stick it up there @$$
