'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

O man, he said "source" be prepared to defend your statement or be devoured by the hounds..

Yeah, the "source patrol" will be all over that post. FWIW, I really am excited about the possibility of this guy coming to The Hill. I would not mind one bit if he lined up at QB either. This guy has so much upside it is ridiculous.

So did Darrell Green and Deion Sanders.

and jerry rice burnt deion sanders ass more times than sanders shut him down to.

and a couple things most of you guys who have never played the game dont understand about 40 times, 1 your dont have the adrenalene pumping like you do in the game, and i promise you if you had a guy run the 40 9 days in a row he would run 9 differnt times with a range of + or - up to 1 second. i bet cobbs will be a legit low 4.5 guy. and even though its something he needs to workon, learning to run perfect routes could make a 4.5 guy look like a 4.4 guy.

There isnt really much a difference in a 4.4 and a 4.7 its 3 tenths of a second it takes longer time to blink than 3 tenths of a second.

I wouldn't say it would be a 1 second difference. Maybe 2-3 tenths though.

But yeah, route running is probably one of the most underrated qualities. 99% of us probably can't even really judge it either, because we can't pick up on the little things like looking in the opposite direction before making a break, ..etc. Just something as small as that can make a difference in catching a 30 yard pass or having it swatted down

I really don't think you have anything to worry about. I think UT is leading and has lead for awhile, his recent visit just confirms it. I would be more worried about the 4.75 40 time he put up at the USC rising stars camp. He may turn out to be a safety or even a linebacker.

As others have said already his 40 time doesn't concern me his other skills will make up for it. Half the SEC has offered this kid as well as other top school around the country so they must see something they like about him.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think the kid is a great player. I just know that coaches were somewhat surprised by his 40 time. I think it's one of those cases where the kid plays faster than his 40 time. Also I know that some schools were recruiting him to play safety or even linebacker and they think he can be a stud there, only time will tell. I think he's all Vol though unfortunately.

All schools are recruiting him at WR.

Do you think he has the ability to play qb at Tennessee because I noticed on his rivals profile he had 1031 yards passing and 10 tds. Thats pretty good for a guy that mainly plays wr and runningback. I think hes worth the risk if we dont get a qb in this class.IMO

He won't play QB here or at any of the schools he's considering.

He actually plays mostly RB and QB in HS not WR. If I remeber reading correctly that he hopes to play more WR this fall because that is what most schools recruiting want. At the HS level his raw ability performs better at certian positions but most scouts and coaches see his best upside being WR. The question though even with his upside can he develop into a great WR. All the tools and atributes are there, but like any other prospect we can't really say until after they are gone.

Again regarding his 40 time who really cares. My understanding from the USC camp was he was frustrated with route runs, but he has never been trained to actually run them. His 40 time was a result of his fruastration and the lack of interest the coaching staff was showing him after some concerns with his route running. I think that USC was expecting more from him in regards to playing WR. I think it is their loss on this kid, because he has so much potential. Unlike alot of other players who you have a good idea what to expect this kid has the most potential. He could be the sleeper of this class that everyone looks back and says he was the best for 2010.

BTW these were his numbers per ESPN for last year.

2008: Rushed for 1,307 yards and 23 touchdowns. Threw for 1,108 yards and six more scores while playing quarterback. 236 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Intercepted two passes. Returned two punts and one kickoff for touchdowns
