'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

I still get e-mails from coaches at other schools. I'm not saying anything back to them, but I'm still going to take some official visits. I haven't set any dates, but I know three of them I want to take and that's obviously Tennessee, then I want to take one to LSU and Alabama.

...During these official visits, my mind may change, but right now I'm 100 percent with Tennessee. I'm with Tennessee, but I want to be exactly sure that is where I want to go to.

From reading that i think the man reason he commited was because he saw this class filling up & thought maybe he wouldnt have a spot left later on.

agree.. He felt strong enough about TN that he didn't want the opportunity to pass by...a couple other recruits would be smart to do this as well because we have a lot of guys with us in top 2 and few spots for anyone that isn't an Olineman

Well that's pretty intelligent of him. From a recruit's perspective, its wise to go ahead and reserve a spot on your favorite team rather than waiting too long only to find the boat is already full. (Yes, Dietrich. I'm talking to you buddy.)

DeMarco decided to come to UT way before we got crowded at WR. The timing of his commitment may seem to indicate he was trying to get on board before we were full, but he decided on his visit that this was where he was going.

The date he set his visit isn't nearly as important as his date of commitment in regards to the "get in while there's a spot" plan.

If Tennessee manages to retain this incoming class of wr's, who do you think gets moved to defense?

Cobbs, Meline or Teague?

I know a lot of people don't believe Teague will be moved to the defense because of what he has done as a wide receiver thus far. Monte really wanted him coming into the season though.

If Teague is ruled out, wouldn't Meline be the obvious choice? Someone did mention Zach Rogers. Just curious what you think?

Not Sab, but I think Meline would be the first to switch positions. He has said before that he actually prefers to play safety, and his upside at Safety is through the roof IMO (think Taylor Mays).

So Meline would for sure play safety and no shot at corner?

I know ZR has blazing straight line speed. Is his shuttle time as impressive?

Usually defensive guys with his type of size play Safety (a la Taylor Mays) or LB. Obviously he's not even close to being big enough to play LB, that's why I say Safety. You just don't see 6'2 corners out there.

At any position he's going to be a project though, and there's a very good chance IMO that he redshirts.

I can't blame him for wanting to take his official visits I would want to take all of mine of it were me just to see whats out there. I hope he still feels that UT is the best place for him when he is through. I really like this kid!

Whoever does the recruiting show on CBS College Sports was calling Cobbs a safety. Is there a chance of him switching or is he set on being a WR?

If there is one player I'm worried that could decommit, it would be Cobbs. If Prater was to change his mind and go to Zook college or OK, and USC offered, Cobbs would drop us in a hurry IMO.

USC stopped pursuing Cobbs long before either Prater or Woods committed.
