'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

He isn't a natural WR because he's never played it before. A lot of WRs in college didn't play the position in High School. Cobbs is a good enough athlete to learn the position rather easily imo. I think he could be a Dez Bryant type guy. Big, strong, and very hard to defend.

We are actively recruiting safeties...I can't see why we need 2 in this class when Myles and Janzen both are already on board and have bright futures. I guess if we don't land one then Cobbs would be easier to switch.

Sure he could. His upside is just better on defense. The defensive staff loves this dude's potential at safety and think he could grow into an OLB.

Competition at every position. That's what we are trying to build here. Our secondary is good and deep, but that doesn't mean we stop recruiting DBs. Look at Florida. Their secondary is as deep and talented as any in the nation and they are still recruiting DBs. That's where we want to be. These coaches love the athletes that can excel at a number of different positions.

Ok, whatever you guys say. You know more about this stuff than I do.

I'd still like to see Demarco at WR. If his high school stats are any indication, he's just electric with the ball in his hands.

So is Eric Berry. Honestly, most college DBs were electric on offense in HS.

according to previous interviews, the staff has told demarco that he will get his start at reciever...where he ends up is another story...

Don't back down from your opinion, especially when it's right like it is now.

Demarco and the staff are the only people that know where he is most likely to end up and while I haven't talked to the staff, I've talked to Demarco, and he says WR. Not much else to it.

Yeah, I just have this guy in my mind when I think of Demarco.....

If we end up pulling Riley or Elam he may just stay at receiver.

I like Cobbs He looks real physical

Dez Bryant is probably the best WR in college. He attacks the football better than anyone. Especially High passes. that skill is a gift.
I can hope Cobbs can be like Dez but realistically, I dont see it.

I'm not expecting him to be a stud like Bryant right out of the gate, if ever...but I think he can be that type of receiver once he learns the ropes. They're almost the exact same size out of high school and there's no doubting Cobbs' athleticism.

Just a little wishful thinking on my part, that's all.

do u see how his right hand is wrapped almost completely around the football. the size of his hands are legendary. I remember ESPN did a short on him and his fade/jump balls from Z.Rob, leading into it before commercial Dez put his hands inthe camera and it looked like his hands should be attached to Shaquille Oneal
the stuff Dez does is just insane, and he runs as hard as Anquan Boldin with the ball in his hands.

back to Cobbs.
I think Cobbs could be more of a Kelley Washington type WR. maybe. *shrugs*

The fact he at his age looks like Kelley Washington physique wise is why people keep talking about moving him to safety or LB.

College weight program and he could be a monster, I would just prefer him to be a monster playing offense.

Kelley W was never quite the same after he hurt his back in that UGA game in Athens. He was still good enough to be in the NFL for years, but not the same player.

I didn't even know KW was in Baltimore.. Wow

yeah, caught a big time pass last week on 3rd down. He had a few decent years in Cincy but then got lost and was only a special teams player for patriots... I think he is the 3rd or 4th WR right now for Baltimore though.

It sounds like he's been recruited to play WR, and that seems to be his first choice as well. BUT when he gets on campus and sees the depth at WR compared to the depth at S/LB, and Monte gets in his ear, he may see his potential on D and be a hard-hitting stud.

Either way, we're getting a great athlete that will play a big part on either side of the ball in 2 or 3 years. If it looks like he's gonna end up on Defense, don't be suprised to see him pick up a redshirt...jmo.
