'10 PREP OL Morgan Moses

Maybe I sorted out your confusion., but I'm not sure.

After Sanchez, USC (there's only one) has Aaron Corp and Mitch Mustain who will likely play QB behind their current OLine and it will be a couple (few) years before Barkley plays behind whoever they recruit to play OT.

Thus, it's this year's recruited OT who should matter most to this year's QB recruits, especially someone like Barkley who would ride the planks at USC waiting for his chance to play if he goes there. OTOH, he could opt to come to UT and get some PT instead of wasting years growing older watching others play in So Cal.

If you check the verb tense of what I posted earlier, you might be better informed. You could also have read the word 'yet' and considered what that implied in the post above yours.

Yeah, I reread it and got what you were saying. No biggie. FWIW, I always think South Carolina when I see USC and southern Cal being the one on the west.

I get what you are saying, but I doubt that is entering his mind at all or would affect his decision one way or the other. JMO.

I think that's where the hope with Barkley rests, but I also understand that he's mostly grown up Trojan. Still... that's not like Vol loyalty, imo. He could be swayed... and a USC-insider like Kiffin might be the perfect person to pull it off.

Kiffin would have to argue that Barkley wouldn't be playing behind the Oline we saw this season at UT. Sark's decision to go to Washington has to help. And, Kiffin's 2005 offense was better than the Trojans have had since then. Barclay, if he's truly a Trojan fan, knows that Kiffin is the man who can run the offense of his own dreams. By showing him an OT like Moses, that says something that's real.

Just saying... it's a pipe dream. We all agree. But with Kiffin... who knows what he can pull off?

I don't want it to sound like I don't have confidence, or that I'm not excited about Kiffin, but where are the commits? Tomorrow marks two weeks since he has been hired, and the only commitments he has gotten are re-commitments. When can we expect to get a new commitment?

You have to think about it this way. These guys never even spoke to the man until a week ago, he hasn't had a chance to get to everyone he wants to yet, and he is basically playing catchup with every other coach that has had contact with these young guys for well over a year. Plus, pretty much everyone that we are going after at this point has multiple offers from some very good schools and they are taking their time to decide. The commits will come. Trust me. Everything that we've heard after guys have spoken with Kiffin has been glowing and he has had a real impression on a bunch of guys. That's tough to do given the limitations I listed above. This guy is a helluva recruiter and he will get it done.

Well said, I agree. Kiffin will probably save most of the commitments we have, get a couple back, and get a few new ones before National Signing Day, and end up with a pretty solid class. As you said, he is having to play catchup.

I am anxious to see what our 2010 recruiting class looks like after he has a year to go after these guys.

You can't be serious.

Good post. You also have to remember that we don't have our entire staff filled out yet.

When Yaw Yaw Yaw hits the recruiting trail, it's all over.

Kiffin was hired Dec. 1. Today is Dec. 8. Seems like two weeks but its just been one. Chill.

$20 says he comes to UT. Lets just say I have a good feeling about this one. When is he going to announce?
