'10 RB Marcus Lattimore

latimore appears faithful to the cocks to a fault...classic example of a kid thinking with his heart instead of his brain...

If Dyer still has us up there....why go through the process of announcing his "commitment" to the Barn?

Because he created a lot of hoopla doing what he did. Now does that mean he will change his mind, no, but I think that even if Dyer wanted to commit to us that we wouldn't take him since he likes to change his mind quite a bit. Hard to get a good read on those kids till the very end.

Do you see other top programs turning down top talent and refusing commits? Really? These kids are kids trying to look out for their own best interest. Some might be good actors, but I doubt any could pull off the act of going somewhere else and then switching at the end to another...knowing it all the time. Different recruits, just like everyone, respond to different things. Some want play time promised, others are looking at an academic line of study, others for future coaching and NFL, etc. Remember, we were willing to take Oku and what was seen as the Bryce Brown drama fest. Turned out well and I am thankful, but did we tell Oku that there were conditions to his offer? He withdrew back and then came back to us. Hope this is close enough of an example for you. Nothing seems identical with each of these guys.

Sab, out of the top uncommitted backs, who do you think we have the best shot at?
I couldn't say.

If Dyer still has us up there....why go through the process of announcing his "commitment" to the Barn?

All I am really saying is that the coaches aren't going to stop recruiting him until signing day and there is a chance we turn him.

From the NY Times article:

Marcus Lattimore, a running back who made an unofficial visit to Tennessee but said he would not enroll there, said multiple Tennessee hostesses attended a game at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., in September. He said they brought signs, including one that read, “Come to Tennessee.”

Marcus Lattimore , Dont be That guy

It's not like he came out on his own to throw UT under the bus. The NCAA is interviewing multiple recruits about Tennessee, which at this point in the year is quite rare. Also, it would be a big mistake for him to lie to the NCAA, ask Dez Bryant.

Did you read his quotes?

Marcus Lattimore, a running back who made an unofficial visit to Tennessee but said he would not enroll there, said multiple Tennessee hostesses attended a game at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., in September. He said they brought signs, including one that read, “Come to Tennessee.”

“I haven’t seen no other schools do that,” he said. “It’s crazy.”

Two of Lattimore’s teammates, Brandon Willis and Corey Miller, have orally committed to Tennessee. Lattimore described the hostesses as “real pretty, real nice and just real cool.” He said he thought they had “a lot” of influence in Miller’s and Willis’s commitments to Tennessee.

he's being that guy by interjecting his feelings onto the actual facts.

What a douche. "He said he thought they had 'a lot' of influence in Miller's and Willis's commitments to Tennessee."

Seriously - now that's just the guy being an a-hole. I'm sure your teammates will really appreciate that comment, Marcus.

be careful... it is the MEDIA, not to mention The NY Times.... Don't blame Lattimore, especially when they only quoted two words "a lot". You know how the media can twist text.

If he said anything remotely close to that when asked the question - then that's totally disrespecting his teammates by claiming they may have made part of their decisions based on some girls rather than what was best for them. Yeah - it could have been twisted - but he obviously said these hostesses had an impact on their recruitment.

“I haven’t seen no other schools do that,”

from this quote, Lattimore's double negative actually means "I have seen other schools do that" "it's crazy"

the NY times is just twisting his words :)
