Coach O has us in the running for so many DTs it's ridiculous. Kelcy Quarles, Darius Kilgo, Evan Hailes, Garrison Smith, James Carmon, Patrick Harris, Jeffrey Whitaker, Vince Taylor, Calvin Smith, George Uko, Ryland Widener, and Ricky Heimuli could end up as a Vol with Broussard...

Quarles shuts down recruiting

USC commitment DL Kelcy Quarles (6-5 270) Greenwood has ended the recruiting process and will stick with his commitment to the Gamecocks his father said Tuesday. "We're finished with it," Buddy Quarles said. "He's taking one class in summer school to graduate early. We sat down last night and made the decision." Since committing to the Gamecocks last November, , Quarles has seen a number of other major schools start to recruit him such as Tennessee, Florida State, LSU and Alabama. But his father, a former USC offensive lineman, said they will contact the other schools and tell them they are finished. Quarles said his son will not take any other visits other than his one to USC.

Dad probably put his foot down and said he is going to USC. I got to say that is pretty weird though.

Isn't it the kids life and the kids decision. I love how a parent wants the best for their son but its questionable if he wants the best for his son or the best for him.

I'm just waiting for the resident USCe retard ihateorange4 to show back up and tell us how we have no chance at Quarles cause we're on our way down and this is the year USCe finally breaks out

Put me in the odd category as well. He was clear to me that he was going to see Tennessee again before doing anything. Now, I didn't talk to his dad. I just talked to him. But yes, it's been an odd day and that is an odd story.

I think that alot can change between now and NSD...especially when the shamecocks go 5-7 and Spurrier announces his retirement b/c USCjr. is "not willing to devote the resources necessary for the program to compete in the SEC."

I agree with you matt. although if South Carolina has a bad year and we do good then I think it turns the tables.

But don't forget about Bryce Brown's mom trying push him to Miami. When BB announced his decision, he said that he wanted to be a Vol for a while, but him and his mom fought over it alot and his dad and brother had to become mediators and calm them down...

If Kelcy camps here in June and comes for an official, we will have a shot. It may be pointed out one day that this is not his father's choice to make, just like it was to BBs mother...

I doubt Reaves, O and Monte, stop calling this kid until he signs.

We all know how "firm" commitments turn out sometimes.
