'10 SC DT Kelcy Quarles

i played russel wilson in baseball a couple times when i was younger and lets just say football was not his only sport!!

according to a new Scout.com interview Quarles is still listening to other schools and Tennessee will be one of his official visits---

Scout.com: Quarles Still Looking

There are some very encouraging things he said in that piece...

He said, "I ain't really talked to South Carolina right now. Been some things going on. Been kinda thinking bout things."

UT was the 1st school he mentioned that he was taking an official visit to for sure. He said he would "probably" take an official to USCjr...

Then he said, "yea I'm still committed, but some things have just going on and I went down there and saw some things. I'm just gonna keep everything down on the low right now."

Well, I know earlier I said he was probably going to end up at SC but I didn't get to read those comments about whats been going on and I think that if we can recruit his dad he will go to UT. I think that his dad has been the problem all along, and is why I said he ends up at SC. I hope we can pull him though.

Don't sound like he's too pleased with things. I feel he's gonna be a Vol come NSD.

He probably knows that he'll be playing for a new coach by his sophomore year, at the latest.

I was talking with George Rogers a couple of weeks ago.....he told me that Spurrier told him that he has no desire to coach another game at South Carolina, but that he'd try to make it through 2010 for his son.

my little brother played baseball for st. chris, and russell went to collegiate so they played against each other all the time...they also played on the same american legion team so our families know each other fairly well. as good of an athlete as russell is he's just as classy off the field.

Greenwood DL Kelcy Quarles (6-5 275) has been committed to USC since the spring, and he says he remains so, but that hasn't stopped other schools from ringing him up on the phone. Tuesday was the first day recruiters could make a once a week phone call to senior prospects. Quarles spoke early in the morning with members of the USC staff, including head coach Steve Spurrier. He said he also got calls during the day from Clemson (Chris Rumph and Dan Brooks) and from Tennessee (David Reaves and Ed Orgeron). Quarles said he might take an unofficial visit to Tennessee Saturday for their season opening game. Quarles opened his season last Friday with 12 tackles and three sacks.

I love the fact that Orgeron is on him. Not many DL can say no to him...

I also noticed that this article said he might take an "unofficial" visit this weekend. That is huge imo. It means that the Quarles' are spending their own money to come back up and see Knoxville again. It also means that Kelcy will still have an official visit available to come back and see UT at a later date...

Tennessee is a serious serious factor here. I just dont see him sticking with that sinking ship of a program at SC.

He would have switched back in the spring if his dad would have given him the green light. The fact that he's taking visits again has to be a good sign for the Vols.

So his dad is the determining factor on where he plays at? I am out of the loop with this guy...

For some reason, I have little doubt that this kid will be a vol and I want him bad. These Cocks around here are going crazy about this situation and I love it.

Yeah it would be fantastic to get Quarles for an unoffcial this weekend. It's not that far!

He's not that far at all from Knoxville.

This is going to be a guy to really keep an eye on come late January / early February.

If USCe continues to play as sloppy as they did against NC State, I would think he'd look around sooner than that. That mess might have beaten a lower-level ACC team, but USCe is going to get worked by most of its SEC opponents if Thursday was any real indication of who they are.
