'10 SC DT Kelcy Quarles

Kelcy is a dominating football player. His size, his speed, and his strength are very good. He just makes plays all over the field He's a hard-nosed player, and he's definitely going to be big. Kelcy can go 300-pounds easy and still run. It was amazing, he ran the 100-meters and the 200-meters in track at 260 pounds. His potential is unbelievable.

- From "coaches comments" on Scout.

Check that - 260 pounds. Still pretty amazing.

Imagine a front seven of:

C.Miller B.Willis K.Quarles J.Smith
J.Luc M.Taylor C.Jones

WOW. With CMK calling the shots and coaching these guys up, our defense will be unstoppable for years to come.

- Two different posters on VQ. From what I can tell, they seem pretty reliable.

As usual, what say ye LV?

I really doubt he is a silent after never coming back to campus after the O&W game. As for Orgeron calling him and working over his father, I'm 100% sure that is the case. I'm still skeptical that he will be a Vol until we can get him back to Knoxville. He was supposed to come back up twice already and canceled both times. If he does in fact come back up, I think we will pull him...

Monte and O have been on this. Especially after this Saturday. Quarles coming to UT wouldnt surprise me. There is a lot of hometown and family pressure on this kid. Difficult to predict when you throw these factors in.

I've mentioned several times to watch this one closely and expect something akin to the Janzen and Nuke situations here.

Kelcy, we are on the rise. USCjr isn't.. It's a no-brainer. Think of the amazing Defense we would have with you here. We might as well call it the Orange curtain, especially with the continuously growing legend that is Monte Kiffin calling the shots and coaching the D up... Now how any recruit could turn this down is beyond me

He's more likely to end up in Knoxville than Columbia.

His dad would really like to see him at SC, but knows that Kelcy would go through a coaching change at some point during his time there...and it's unlikely that Johnson or Lawing would be retained after Spurrier.

The stability and continuity of Monte and O is big. Not to mention O's record with sending guys to the NFL.

I believe the scenario you described will come to fruition with in the next year or so. CSP's tome is getting short at SC.

This class, along with the 09 guys (JJ and Myles), could go down as Monte's finest defense at any level...maybe even more dominant than his Tampa SB team.

Not saying they could be better than an NFL squad, just that this could be the finest defense he's ever coached, with regard to dominating opponents. One reason being, that he's able to shop for his own groceries, so to speak...he's at one of the top programs, traditionally, in the country, and his reputation draws the talent to him like a magnet.

Quarles really is blowing a golden opportunity to be part of the best defense in the SEC, and quite likely the country, for some time to come...if he insists on playing for the Choking Chickens.
