Rex has hedged on Smith, but he's saying USC. 'Course Rex thinks everyone's going to USC. I think Hailes will end up elsewhere and Smith is likely UGA-bound.

I agree sorta. I have a really good feeling about Hailes. But I can't see UT getting Carmon, Quarles, Hailes, and Broussard in one class. 3 out of those 4 wouldn't be bad though...:good!:

quite a few high school DT's get converted to the O-Line

The kid grew up a Gamecock fan. To get the kind of reaction out of him that we did bodes well for us considering that. It sounds like we may be the new leader for him.

I think you guys are leading for him. Our insider at gamecockcentral is saying that Tennessee really impressed him on his visit. I do think we have dad in our corner though.

my thing is that it is 1 and a half hours from greenwood to columbia
4 hrs to knowville from greenwood

i dont think the distance thing will matter

Maybe the kid is done and the staff now starts on the Dad. We have from now to February to close the deal.

Can coaches even be on the road meeting with prospects yet?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think they can..

I don't know much about recruiting, but I think that Kelcy's dad and his health will eventually convince him to stay. When the dust settles it won't matter. Our Dline will be stacked for the future one way or another.

Frankly, it is probably best for his entire family if he stays in SC. Just my opinion.

This is kinda how I feel Lex.

Its basically a Tyler Smith situation.

Feel the same..

but I'd love to have him if we can get him; extremely talented. Orgeron could turn this kid in to the next great UT interior back-field destroyer.

If the man has to get in the car each weekend regardless, then what is another 1.5-2 hours of driving? Either way he you have to factor in gameday traffic/getting to the stadium/etc... It's not like he is torn between USCjr and U of Washington.

I saw his dad fan day, looked healthy to me. He's a big man though! He had a hostess with him, paged his son over loud speaker, must of got lost with the two hostess LOL!

quarles recently met with brad lawing, our D line coach, and supposedly firmed up his commitment a little. However, I am worried because the floridas and lsus of the world are starting to show a lot of interest in him. If he switches his commitment, I think it will be to UF, LSU, Bama, before UT.

Janzen Jackson firmed his commitment up to LSU too. And more publicly that what you're saying. BTW, if he goes anywhere besides USCe, it will be UT. He wants his parents to be able to watch him play. That's not a secret.
