'10 TN DE Jacques Smith

That article was nice. I can't believe that kid has not started his senior year yet. He
looks NFL ready!

Yeah I should have clarified that. Georgia cut of contact with him, he didn't cut off contact with Georgia.

Anyone think he'll end up a 5 star on Rivals during or after his senior season?

Not sure - I would be surprised if he has a better senior season (stat wise) to be honest - we had a really good DT last year at Ooltewah that helped him do his thing and take pressure off him (less double teams etc). They may have some more talent at DT to help em out - but we'll see.

I live in Harrison and I plan on going to see some of Ooltewah's games this year just to see how he does. I'll have to sport the orange though.

Honestly, he's probably gonna be at least double and triple teamed on every play. I just hope he doesn't get hurt that way or anything.

I'm really on this kids bandwagon. First and foremost, he's a freak athlete, and I think he will be one of the top ends to come out of this class. But even more impressive than that, this kid just bleeds orange and absolutley loves the Vols. Every time I see him quoted in an article he's talking about how hard he's working to get other top recruits to come play for us. He may be one of our best recruiters right now and he's still in high school. I love it! The fact that he's working on Scroggins so hard is just fantastic. Just seems like a solid character kid thats going to make the Vol Nation very proud in the years to come. Keep it up J. Smith!:)This is just a bit of what I'm talking about:
UT defensive end commitment Jacques Smith from Ooltewah High School said he also will take his official visit for the Georgia game on Oct. 10. Smith is doing all he can to make the weekend a big one for UT.

"That will just bring the bond of the group together," Smith said after the Vols' camp concluded on Saturday. "If more commitments come, when they see that, they'll want to join in too. That's the whole thing, being one. Tennessee is a family.

"Coach Orgeron really talks about that a lot, how the D-line does everything together. If you bring that to recruiting, more people will come."

Of UT's nine commitments, seven are projected to play defense. Smith believes a quarterback - namely Scroggins - could provide some momentum for offensive prospects.

"That's all we need is a quarterback," Smith said. "That will spark the offensive recruiting."

He comes off as extremely intelligent, composed, and passionate about UT football - add to that the fact that he appears to be a good ball player and I can't imagine a better situation. Something about the confidence he projects when talking about recruiting for this class (I think it is that he appears to see a bigger picture of how it will all come together and how the process works) makes me see him as the kind of leader to actually pull off the recruitment of his potential teammates.

I absolutely love Smith. He's got leadership skills and will be an anchor for our defense. If we could get Ego,too, man, we would have two smart/ articulate DE who are both driven and want to be the best. Could you imagine Ego and Smith together? Holy Moses!

I hope to see him in person when his high school plays my alma mater.....this is one game that I will be rooting for Ooltewah. :p I love everything that I have seen and heard about him. SO glad he's going to be a Vol.

I went to see Ooltewah play last year against White's Creek. I had only heard a little about J. Smith before that game, but that young man is a BEAST! Imagine being an average sized TB in H.S. at 180 lbs. Imagine being considered a fast TB. Now, imagine someone mowing over your OL who's faster than you, too. It looked like child's play.
