'10 TN DE Jacques Smith

I feel more sorry for his team. The lesson he should learn here is you can't lose your cool....no matter what. Things like this can cost your team on and off the field. That's what he should take away from this. Congrats to the coaching staff at his HS teaching him this lesson now instead of worrying about the playoff game.

EDIT: That said, I really like the kid and I hope this is just a one-time mistake.

Well at least we know our team next year is not afraid to mix it up with jjs suspension and now jaq .On a more serious not i played hs ball and college and fought once or twice a week at both levels. No big deal then but because of information age we now live in everything gets blown way out.My across the street neighbor teaches at ool and says he is a great kid and works very very hard at every thing he does. He is a yes sir no sir kind of kid and always very nice to the younger kids around him. Who knows every thing happens for a reason .Maybe he plays friday and gets hurt? I dont think they would have gone to far with him.If they get behind and have to throw the ball they are in trouble, and at some point thats going to happen.

Well if he doesn't go to the draft he could lay some wood in the UFC. Good Right Hand, Wrestling Background. Learn some Sub defense...get the belt.

Yeah, I feel really bad for Jac. Everything that has come out about him has said nothing shy of him being a really great kid. Hate to see him end his HS career like this, as most think they can't beat Farragut without him.

This will be a situation that he will learn from and become a better person because of though.

I don't think Ooltewah beats Farragut even with Jac...JMO

Wow, he punches his own teammate in practice and he gets suspended for what could be his last high school game. Brandon Spikes tries to blind a person, and Meyer wants to give him a half.

Lord the rumors that start. Lol yes all the suspension stuff is true. But the reason it happened is we are having really intense practices and people getting all fired up. Well after a play was over the sophmore said chill the F... out because Jac shoved someone after the play and jac siad something back and the sophmore took his helmet off and jac hit him once and walked off
Sorry to bust the bubble

Dont agree with the suspension at all. If it happened on the field against another team obviously. I bet if you ask the teammate he punched he would even say let Jac play. Especially if this very well could be his last game. This would def leave a sour taste in his mouth if they lose. GO VOLS!

Its kinda hard to believe that story when everyone else is saying discipline is probably the lowest thing on their coaches list. We'll see I guess though

Benny Monroe has hardly suspended anyone over the past few years - really surprised he did this - kid has punks for parents apparently.

The time when the Ooltewah kids went to Ridgeland and caused "trouble" it wasn't at the school (Ooltewah that is) and the players weren't the ones who assaulted the girl and the guy. That was two punk kids (one was a former player kicked off I think). The players that went over there did taunt some of the Ridgeland players and had to be seperated/asked to leave after the game or something - that's why they had to run laps. Funny thing was those guys actually got a freakin' warrant for their arrest because of that incident (not the ones that assaulted the 2 people but just the ones talking trash) which seems over the top and the Chattanooga high school football community was in an uproar about it calling all Owl players thug, etc. and pissed they didn't get suspended.

This kid was my favorite recruit, but this behavior is unacceptable. And what parent would not throw a fit if the kid that "destroyed" your kids mouth wasn't suspended? I know he has been the golden child because he is a local and elite, but that is still no excuse for this. I don't care if the kid did deserve it. It takes a bigger man to walk away than to punch a kid half your size in the mouth for running it. A one game suspension is adequate punishment in my book, and I hope it is a lesson learned before he gets here.
