'10 TN DE Jacques Smith

From that article I thought this was the most interesting line, mostly because we have some bolting to ink with UNC. Based on this timetable, Butch Davis has a couple more weeks to decide where he'll be coaching next year.

The last prominent program to experience a similar shakeup was Miami in 2001, when Butch Davis left nine days before signing day to coach the Cleveland Browns. The Hurricanes promoted Larry Coker and won the '01 national title and played for it again in '02.

Les Miles is a safe bet this year, but Rich Rod could be gone next spring and who knows if Miles turns them down again. He's not doing as well on the field as he is with recruiting, but that's not that hard to do at LSU considering all the in-state talent you already have.

I don't even know how well Jac speaks Cajun.

Miles will be on the hot seat after next year if they don't do better, he decided to keep Crowton which might end up costing him his job.

As far as Jac, if he likes Tennessee he should stay there, if he is truly planning a visit to BR he should consider it there as well. He can enroll this weekend at LSU if he wishes.

It really sounds like he wants to be Volunteer but other circumstances has forced his hand. If LSU were closer he probably would be there already. I actually hope he stays a Vol but if he feels it's not right there, well, I think the Tigers want him.

It really is a terrible thing Lame-o has done. We'll see, Jac is correct he should make the right decision for himself and he shouldn't be scared into the decision either which is what the AD was trying to do.

Good morning Vol fans....I keep checking your board to learn who your coach is going to be..Truly amazing events..

the rumors are amazing...in the past, Volnation has been money on being correct on rumors...but perhaps Hamilton has purposely mislead folks to keep his search private? Radio here in Raleigh was saying it was done!, but just now on ESPN says no Cutliffe! so the search continues

It seems that the Cutcliffe hire would have been a real downer to Vol fans...I get that...you want a guy that can bring energy..Cut is a solid guy and great coach..Anyways...Lane left you guys in a real tough spot..

In regards to Smith....LSU would love to have him...Great player! I think he is just mad, and upset over all this like everyone else in the State of Tennessee.. He will likely stick with Tennessee is my guess...because it seems that is where his heart is...but I think the coach relationships being broken has really set him back...and Apparently he likes Chavis and Haley...which I had no clue we were even talking with him..

Who knows...as a fan, of course I want him to come to LSU, but only if he is sure and happy with his decision..

I think most all players once they get to a place and have had a chance to get settled and build relationships, it becomes home...but for a while it can be a rough transition...

Our fans on TD can be good and can be real bad... The recruiting board is pretty civil...the Rant is not a place i post much on anymore....I would not advise going there much, maybe the Coaching board or SEC Rant board...

Best of Luck...I am sure good news is coming this weekend

J. Smith had the hearts of a lot of people on here already. I understand he's a kid, and this whole thing has thrown him for a loop. But it isn't going to be the same now. If he'd been able to handle it the same as Palardy....

I wish him well whatever he decides, and I'm disappointed he didn't love Tennessee as much as I thought he did.

Volly,

I think that this kid will end up going to UT (or maybe I am just having some issues with wishful thinking). He seems to have his head on straight and I think/hope that his heart is at UT.

Hopefully after we announce a new HC and everyone calms down he will start seeing straight again!...I hope :)

P.s. I will also be disappointed if he turns to another school, very disappointed.

MB on TOS has people saying Jac has decided back on Vols...

If true, It would be a tremendous boost.

Not gonna say where I am hearing it from but apex and the rest of the trolls might be in for a dissapointment as well. Like I said I hope it isn't true.

If Smith is reading these boards, then get your tail up there to Knoxville. 4 and 5 star recruits are good, but if one is a Tennessee boy then you know he will give his all for the Orange, just look at the past "aka" Al Wilson for one. We need him to hold this class together

Jac has been all VOL for a long time...I believe after he cools down after what Benedict Kiffin did to all of us, Jac knows that his heart is all Volunteer...give him some time...young man will be proud to wear Orange & White...Go VOLS! Go Jacques!

yea where u hearing that from lsu siu

I don't know what you are referring to.

I really haven't heard anything about Jac since Wednesday, of course what I did hear appears to be true at that time.

Sounds like to me he would rather stay a Volunteer but is pretty upset about the whole thing. Like I said, if BR was closer I would think the jump would have been made already. I would say if he is not coming to BR this weekend than chances are he stays a Vol.

You have another paper saying he was enrolled but that is not what Jac said in the other interview nor his HS coach. I would expect waivers if that is the case, but who knows?
