'10 TN DE Jacques Smith

I think Jacq realizes how much the fans love him already....... in the end i think he makes the right choice. "Vols baby!!"

Jacques...we need you now more than ever. You have always wanted to be a Vol and now it looks like we have a coach with integrity that wants to be a part of UT. I really hope to hear soon that he is back in Knoxville in orange!

I don't know about you guys, but I think that Jacques Smith is a future Vol Team Captain...he loves the University of Tennessee and we need him to be a team leader...Go VOLS!

I think he was just waiting and if there wasn't anything disastrous he would be a vol. If he watched/read and of Dooley's comments, he's a Vol.

Tell me I'm not getting this right...we lost Monte, which hurts alot on D, I get that. We lose Yaw Yaw, he's a closer, strong but just one. That's it, right? Lane's nothin' special, he's not THE closer, right? The rest of the staff, still remains Kippy, Lance, Cregg, we'll be okay right?

JS wants to be here, he just needs to be assured he'll get a fair shake to play early. You don't need a used car salesman to sell a car to a kid who'd rather walk to work anyway! C'mon!

Jac needs to just figure out the best decision for him. Pick a school not a staff because there are going to be vipers in a lot of places out there. I hope whatever he does he at least meets the new coach before making a decision.

Which is one reason why I think we have a great shot at retaining Smith...

...and I don't know about you all... but if things stay the same in LSU as they were this past year...Miles will be gone...

I want JS to play here, I really do. But I'm just a little surprised at his reaction to all of this. He claimed to be all vol from very early on. He recruited a bunch of guys for us. He seemed like he loved UT and wanted to play for us forever. But now since the evil one has left, he backs off UT? How much did he like UT in the first place? Where was he calling EE's and other recruits telling them that things will be fine? We needed him to be the leader of this recruiting class in terms of being a guy that was never going to waiver from UT and would instill that confidence in the university to the other guys who weren't that sure. I still hope he comes here, but these past few days make me kind of question his motives.

Yeah - I guess I'm a bit confused by Jacques as an Ooltewah guy - I thought he was more committed to the University since he basically had committed under Fulmer as well. I'm sure he'll come around though. Came to basically every home game for 2 years straight - I thought he'd be right there with Corey Miller at this point.

I hope Jac has just stored all the frustration we've all felt this week along with his own and dishes it out weekly on Saturday afternoons againt Vol opponents.

Be all Vol, Jacq! You're like us. There is no choice.

Smith is a true vol and I know he will make the right decision and join the big orange soon! Has been my fav vol 4 a long time.

jac talked to coach O every week plus it was his position coach.

Im not sayin he wont be back, but u gotta understand his support system just walked out on him, anyone in their right mind would step back from the situation and take their time sorting things out

I think this is a little harsh... majority of volnation acted like kids on tuesday, sky has fell attitude...but you expect a guy at his age to show maturity at the level you describe? ...added that the situation directly effects him...he will be a player.

I have a friend who is an assistant coach at Ooltewah. He was telling me the other day that Jacques was like the rest of us and just really hurt by what happened but he will more than likely be at UT. You never know though he may change his mind but I don't see it happening.

good post Jay. his reaction, i believe, is because he was probably the most hurt, of the prospects. he was the most excited to come here and play for a program that was fast on the rise, and the switch got flipped, without warning.
