'10 TN OL James Stone

Two things here....

1. The staff does want him, they just aren't going to wait around because OL is a need and there are others who want to come here. He's not on top of the board, but he's not as low as you think either.

2. Camp performances hold weight, just not as much as you think. All that happens is the DL gets to pin their ears back and go as fast as they can. That doesn't happen every play in a game, because of coverages and other factors. If all they are doing is pass rushing the QB dummy in camp, advantage DL 100% of the time.

What do you mean they aren't going to wait around??? They will wait as long as it takes for Stone and that will likely be signing day.

I keep telling you guys this kid is legit.

wouldnt it be cool to have three offensive linemen who start the ua game come to tennessee i dont believe that has ever happened to any school

Because, in their eyes, if they have another prospect or two that looks the same and has the potential of Stone, then you take whoever commits first and move on. The coaches want Stone, but like I said, I don't know if they are willing to wait around and let him drag this thing out as long as he wants to.

I also think that his coach has made things REALLY hard on him in regards to UT. You can only sling sand in a college coaches eyes for so long before they go find another spot on the beach.

From the sound of it at the UA game, Stone isn't impressing much. It sounds like the UT camp Part Deux...

If you watched the game, the OL was always at a disadvantage, because the DL had their ears back pass rushing every play and the LB's were stunting and blitzing. The OL never stood a chance. The entire line was getting beat on both sides.

From what I saw of Stone, I am taking a different position. Stone played well IMO. Sure he got beat a few times, but name an OL that doesn't. I watched him in the 4th quarter alot and this kid has the potiential to be real good with better coaching.

Mike Farrell believes Stone should be bumped down to a 3star...

in the grand scheme of things......his star ranking doesnt matter.......when you see his list of offers....going down a star isnt going to change the fact that UT would still want him...IMO

saban wants him, clk wants him, brian kelly wants him, that's about all i need to know

The stars don't matter, but Stone isn't at the top of our OL target wish list. If we take him it's because we didn't get someone else...

Man, I've been sayin' that since August. And I think you agreed with me.

I'd have James Stone a 5.7 rated 3*, Calvin Smith a 5.7 rated 3*, Zack Fulton a 5.8 rated 4*, and I'd have Michael Taylor a 5.9 rated 4* but that's JMO

I don't think Stone has had very good coaching at Maplewood...with quality coaching I think he could help us down the road, imo...

So do we think that we can keep this kid on the backburner, then if we don't get who we want, offer him and he'll come running? Does he have an actual offer, and if he doesn't, he should, imo. You can never have too many OL.

The bottom line: Stone got pancaked at one of our summer camps so that is still fresh in the staffs' minds.

I'll trust the staff on developing this kid's raw potential but I would feel more comfortable with another recruit to finish out our Oline assuming we land Chaz and Cullen on top of who we already have.
