'10 TN OL James Stone

We also have one of the top OL JUCO who came in the spring along with Flukerwho is the #1 rated OT in the country last year. Since Smith did pretty well there as a True Freshman I think this kid will be fine. The WR is Jones maybe the best WR in the country. BTW our top 3 recievers in receiving yards from last year all return. One senior, 2 sophmores. Tight End will have a Senior who had to sit out last year because he transferred from GTech and he is better than the ones we lost. Our RB situation is even better a sophmore(last year true freshman) that rushed for 700 plus yards not to mention he led the team in TDs with a true freshman RB that will probably start over him. Our QB is better than JPW from last year.

1. How do you know the Sr TE from GA Tech is better? You don't.

2. If McElroy is better than JPW, why didn't he start last year?

3. Everything I've read on Fluker from experts and scouts says he needs some work before he can play in the SEC. They say he needs to work on his footwork and hands, and to not rely so much on his size like he did in HS.

4. Even if the JUCO OL James Carpenter lives up to expectations, you still have to replace McClain at C and an outstanding OG in Marlon Davis.

Looking like quite a recruiting battle for young Mr. Stone. Looks like it'll be quite a while before he decides. Whoever gets him will get a dang good one, IMO.

There are several lineman I want over him. I will take him and trust the staffs evalutations but I've heard from several different people that have seen him come away very unimpressed. Again, I turst the staff's judgement but from sources and videos he doesn't seem to be the best on our board.

I Agree plus I would rather see him in the SEC than outside like at ND. If the SEC keeps getting recruiting classes like we have been and these new step up to the plate the SEC to other conferences will be like the NFL to the CFL.

The SEC is allready the dominate conference . WOW . I'm agreeing with a Bammer

I think it comes down to spots we have left. We have already signed 3 lineman, with two of them being Under Armor All Americans. It looks like we might only take one more for the OL and Robison wants to commit early so if so Stone wont be wearing Crimson. So their probably truth to it. Their is a good chance we will have 24+ commited before the season starts. I think out of the players we should get or have a really good chance they have said they will commit to a school before their fall season starts. Their are 2 strong leans for us that are waiting but overall the rest will be on board before the fall. If so I hope you guys get Stone and good luck with him.

I agree on several points. He will wait probably until NSD to decide so that does bode well for UT. Second unless playing at ND is really where he wants vs playing in the SEC again I think UT. UF, UGA, LSU and UA will have their classes mostly full by then and even though UT is rebuilding every recruit still looks at UT as one of the top programs in the conference. ND and UT I would say is where the battle is for him and UT should have the edge there.

Also my response about spots left was to a poster who has edited their post in regards to us not recruiting him any more and going after D Robinson in stead. We have one spot left for an OL and we are wanting someone to commit now instaed of later. Now that poster is saying he is a lock but I was replying to that.

This will very likely be true but the point that people are trying to make to you is that, in the case of Stone, that isn't going to matter.

I understand that but I haven't seen a report from Stone saying that either though. Maybe wishful thinking because I have seen many threads in here and on our boards in the past that said a player was a lock and guess what they went elsewhere.

Usually I couldn't agree with you more, and it's always possible that we could end up with egg on our face with this one too, but too many people that I actually listen to are way too confident about this one.

Plus dont take me wrong. I really believe if he would commit right now that we would take him no doubt. But he isn't so I dont think we as fans on our boards see him at UA and also see him going to UT probably, even if he was going to commit soon I don't think we feel we are his first choice. I just haven't seen any report or interview that shows his prefernce or lean yet.

We get rumors on our boards to but the rule of thumb for posting their is unless their is evidence please state it as a rumor. With out a source it is just heresay. That doesn't mean there isn't some board or someone that always follows this but again it doesn't merit much without some support. We went through the same thing a few years ago when rebuilding and if people believe to much in rumors then expectations are great and dissapointment soon follows.

I think it comes down to UT first and Notre Dame second for his services. How the seasons play out and if Meyer went to ND to could affect things. But I concur I think UT gets him.
