'10 TN OL O.C. Brown

He will get an offer, and UT and Ole Miss will battle, in the end, OC will hopefully make the right decision and be clad in ORANGE!

The lineman did say if Ohio State offered things could change. "They would probably be No. 1," Brown said of Ohio State.

Despite naming some early leaders in the past, Brown said there isn't a clear-cut team with an advantage. Instead, he said he wants to take his time and see what each school on his list has to offer.

"I am really all the way open," Brown said. "I don't have a top three or anything. I am just going to go to a school that is best for me… I want a good program that has good academics and a place that I think I fit in."

Per Rivals...

I just watched this kids film to see what all his hype was. The kid is fast for a big kid when he pulls, but he shows it in his stance when he is going to pull. At the point of attack he will either take a false step or hop while he punches the defender. There is no bend to him at all or any technique with leverage or putting his head on a side and driving. His pass blocking didnt look real good to me, plus he was slow getting out of his stance to be in position. It seemed as if the end would beat him off the ball and he would just push him down cause he was double his weight and size. He is basically a lot bigger than the kids he plays against and can dominate them.

I see why there has been no offer to him yet. He is the kind of kid that needs to be seen in person in a camp in one on one drills to justify a scholarship offer. I have seen 3 star kids film a lot more impressive than his and against better competition. I hate to say this about at Tennessee kid but I think he is a little over rated.

“I still have three offers right now, from Colorado, Kentucky, and Southern Miss,” he said. “I’m also hearing from LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and Clemson."

Per Scout... It just doesn't appear the Vols are too hard after him...

I think he would be a good guard for UT, but if we have not offered him yet we probably wont until his senior season gets underway and he performs at a high level.

I don't think he's going to get an offer. I don't think he did very well at camp.

I don't understand what Kiffin is thinking here. Anybody that size needs an offer. I mean, geez, that is a position of need right now !

and that is why you aren't being paid hundred of thousands (or Millions) of dollars to coach/recruit college football players.

that is some horrible logic...

You don't offer based on "size", OC's problem is that he may not have the athletic ability to play at this level.

We aren't the only ones not jumping to offer him so there must be something the major power schools are not impressed with or nervous about with him.

I understand what you're saying govols but I have to agree with King on this...

Brown is a highly rated prospect from Tennessee and he plays a position that is our 2nd(possibly 1st) priority...

If we want to 'put up a fence' and fill our biggest need I don't understand why we wouldn't offer him...even if he didn't impress as much as some would like

The point is, that there is no point to "putting up a fence" around Tennessee for the players that aren't any good or won't fit our system. We shouldn't offer guys just based on how highly rated they are on Rivals....

IMO I don't think the staff will use any evaluations of prospects from Rivals or Scout they will make their own evaluations. We are seeing more and more kids at camps that are starting to pop up on recruiting radars for the hard work this staff is doing. I believe this staff's hard work will turn up some gems.

Does it really matter that he would be filling a position of need if he isn't good enough to play?

Just be patient. I have no doubts that this staff will bring in talented linemen, even if we haven't heard of some of them yet.

He didn't perform well enough to get an offer at camp. As Coach O has said before. There is no point in signing a kid who will take up a scholly for 4-5 years and not produce. That is why he won't get a scholly unless the coaches see something in him later.

O.C.'s sister took O.C. and another OL (Julius Martin) from Manassas to the TN camp. Julius is a solid H.S. player but DII College player at best. It is my understanding that Julius was placed with the invitee/A group. This group had James Stone, Zac Tait etc.. and all of the TN Coaches watching. O.C. was placed with the other 150+ general population campers. I believe this was by mistake. I have an e-mail in to coach O asking this question.

As far as how he did at the camp he says he did good but I wasn't there so I can't say. On a scale of 1-10 O.C. is a 9.5 athelete and probably a 6-7 football player. He is very raw and is 3-4 years behind these other players in coaching and conditioning. He's also 16 years old.

The UT coaches know what they are doing. They need OL to come in and play fairly quick and O.C. is a project. I don't think they have the luxury to work on projects with their current OL situation.

It doesn't seem likely that UT will offer and O.C. will probably not contribute a whole lot his first 2 years in College (wherever that may be) while he's catching up. Do me one favor and file his name away because I predict it will pop up in 4-5 years as an all conference type player weather it be the SEC, Big 12, ACC or even CUSA for that matter.

For those interested this is a video of the Manassas Spring Game. O.C. is #77 playing LT. He still has work to do but his stance and flexibility are much improved over last season.

From someone I know who keeps up with OU recruiting

Apparently OC was there and "it was a tragedy that he's rated higher than Bronson Irwin". Said he didn't do very well at all

I have said it before. He does not bend very well or explode off the ball. He looks ok to an extent cause he is bigger than everyone else. The only thing good he offers is that he is fast, but who cares if an OL is fast. Chances are they are only running 10 or less on most plays anyways.

Tragedy? Didn't do very well?

Well I was there and while Irwin's technique is better his athleticisim was not close. I am in no way taking anything away from Irwin. He's impressive.

Again if you had to play a game tomorrow or next year you'd take Irwin or 20 other OG's but whoever does the ratings obviously sees some upside potential.
