'11 AL DB Christion Jones

He plans on attending the Tennessee/Oregon game on Sept. 11 unofficially. “I think the program is coming up,” he said about the Vols. “I’m interested in the new coaches and want to see how they do. I think that’s another place I’d be able to play early…probably as a freshman.”

This is good news. I like his approach. He is really thinking things through and I like the fact that he sees the opportunity to play early. That's good for us.

“I have been to Tennessee and they have a great campus. They have a whole new coaching staff. That kind of scared me, but it is a good thing, because they’re looking for defensive backs. It’s looking good. I want to see where I fit down there, which is why I want to take a look there.”

Notre Dame is probably out due to distance. He is high on Bama with UT and Florida behind them.

I hope we could pull Jones as a CB he would definitely be a beast. Our DB class would look very solid for '11.

It seems that he is really interested in early playing time, which makes me wonder why he is so interested in Bama b/c he won't get much early pt there more than likely.

Tennessee, along with Florida and Alabama, have made his top three............

"At Alabama, you're being coached by the best defensive backs coach in the game. That sets them apart right there. You are going to improve under Coach Saban as a defensive back and you will be prepared for the next level, you know that right off the bat. On top of that, they are the national champions and they're on the verge of winning more titles. The chance to be on the best team and be coached by the best coaches is a pretty great opportunity."

"Florida has always attracted me because of their style of play. I love the way they approach the game from both sides of the ball. They have a great staff like Alabama and a great academic program as well."

"For Tennessee, it's really all about Coach Dooley. He has put together a great staff with a lot of experience and they are all really good people as well. He's got a good handle on where he wants to take that program. When I talked to him back in February, he told me his basic plans for what he wanted to do at Tennessee and you can already see him doing some of those things."

It does sound good for UT by those comments even though we made his top 3. Sounds like a UF/UA battle. It sounds like to Christian it's all about the coaching staff and he definitely talke about UA's staff way more but I guess it may have also been writen by a UA bias writer as well. IDK.

IDK, that doesn't sound particularly bad for UT. I don't expect to get him because it sounds like he's waiting for UT to do something impressive to push him over the top. If DD figures out how to do that this season then Jones and several others will take a longer, harder look.

I hope Wilcox proves himself in the SEC with his use of DB's. Based on his comments, I think that could really help with Jones.

IMO it's a Bama/UT battle, from reading his comments I think Dooley is really selling him on early PT & returning kicks but I think the lure of playing for a contender is keeping Bama in it with us.

I agree it is an UA - UT battle for him. I think the way UT plays on the field will have a lot to do with his final decision -- and the same is true for a lot of other highly sought after recruits.

not 100% sure but I thought I read in an article where Saban had given him his release.

either way, I doubt he would be welcomed here.

Saban was talkin about how Woodson didnt live up to his responsibilities so that would lead me to believe Coach Dooley wouldnt want any parts of him.

Woodson wouldn't be an impact player. He can't cover period. He and Robert Lester were going to be the weak link of the defense.

if the rumors turn out to be true, woodson my be ours anyways.

Rod Woodson is transferring to UNA in Florence, Alabama.

If you're talking about Danny Woodson, I doubt it. He has issues about our depth chart, but he's an Alabama legacy. I fully expect him to end up at Alabama in the end.

Chris Jones grew up an Alabama fan. He'll have a chance to make an impact as a freshman in 2011. Unless some higher rated DB comes along, I fully expect Jones to end up in Tuscaloosa.
