'11 ATH Jabriel Washington

I talked to jabriel about an hour ago. He DID commit to bama toda on his visit. As far as I know Tennessee is completely out.

Well, I hope that Jabriel likes it in Bama. We have bigger fish to fry than focusing on utility players, like Bama can do right now since it's 2 deep at every position.

Yet this board, in all its infinite knowledge, is convinced he's overrated. Who cares that a 2-time national championship coach thinks he's good?

When you are the Bama's and Florida's of the world, you can take players who do not project at a certain position on the field and try and mold them into a utility player on your roster. We DO NOT have that luxury and need players who project where they need to play before they get here. We don't need many, if any, project players right now.

That's quite a generalization. A few people's opinion that he's a bit overrated doesn't equate to 'this board'.

Being able to potentially play at multiple positions does not make one a project.

I don't think the guy can stay with the WRs of the SEC, much less guard their size right now. He's a 2-3 year project at best, especially at Bama with the way they recruit. Also, the reason that he has all of his offers is exposure. Sometimes offers perpetuate more offers, not necessarily skills.

Teams like Bama, Ohio State, etc. aren't going to offer someone because another team did. Did receiving offers from certain schools expose him to other ones, sure. However, they're not going to offer him unless THEY want him.

What corners are we in on that can come in and contribute in year one? I haven't heard of any.

Also, just because you offer a kid, doesn't mean you are going to take him either. That being said, UT would have most likely took Jabriel, but he's still a project to get on the field at a position of need.

Yeah, but I doubt many teams were going to turn down his commitment.

What about my question, where are these corners that can get on the field?

Yes, he is overrated imo.

Yes, I would have loved for him to be a Vol and he is definitely good enough to play at UT.

He is not a Vol. He does not like UT. good riddance.

I can agree with this. Saying we don't need him because he is a project, I don't.

Based on needs, we don't. Based on the perception it gives other in-state kids, yes. Jabriel gets way too much love for barely making it to 160 lbs and being considered this top prospect that he may or may not be in college. He is a project based on his height and weight right now. He MIGHT be 5'10".

Let's see how many corners we sign from '11 that come in and play in year one. Have you seen him in person?
