'11 ATH Jabriel Washington

He's not big by any means, but this is decent size for a junior corner. Art Evans isn't much thicker, if at all.

There is not a lot we can do if he's convinced to play elsewhere.

But it doesn't mean this kid couldn't contribute at UT just because he's an athlete. From what I've seen of him, I agree with chavis that he's got SEC potential at cornerback for sure. We've all debated on here about what the best school of thought on recruiting is, whether it is better to devote time pushing after guys that are a longshot, or turn your attention elsewhere.

But I agree with the latter. If he doesn't want to be here, it's time to keep pressing those Bama, Louisiana, Georgia and Carolina recruits.

We're going to be fine. Recruiting is a marathon. Dooley and staff will land another top ten class this year. We mostly need linemen on both sides of the ball and a quarterback or two.

GO VOLS!!

espnu 150 watch list talent jabriel washington picks the tide

head coach nick saban and his staff at alabama have snared their 10th class of 2011 commitment in highly-recruited athlete jabriel washington of trinity christian (jackson, tenn.).

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound standout is expected to play cornerback for the tide.

Washington has over 30 offers, including lsu, auburn, florida state, georgia, georgia tech, duke, kentucky, memphis, mississippi, tennessee and vanderbilt.

Among others were notre dame, california, colorado, illinois, kansas, michigan, nebraska, ohio state, oklahoma and southern california.

For those who are saying Washington is a project, maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but as someone mention if a well-reknown talent evaluator like Nick Saban offers the young man a deal, he's prolly the real deal. Make no mistake he could be the next Javier Arenas or the next Alonzo Lawrence, but with Saban as his coach (remember CNS specialty)I wouldn't put anything against him.

With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if Washington ends up in the slot at Tuscaloosa.

Lack of communication between the new staff and Jabriel cost TN in this case. There was genuine interest on Jabriel's end of things from what I've heard but none in return. I hope the attitude wasn't one of giving up because that don't look good. If they say he's not good enough, then ask the question, if he's good enough for Nick Saban at DB, he's definitely good enough for us. As a fan of the Tennessee football program i hope that we continue to pursue kids no matter what school their leaning to.

I will be shocked if you hear a lot out of Washington wherever he lands. JMO

He is small and elusive but not the greatest athlete ever to come out of West TN.

I wish him well except when he plays the Vols.

I hope he busts, moves back HOME to Tenn, then works at Neyland serving me hotdogs.

Grammar aside, if Dooley didn't want him enough to spend that much time on him then who cares? I'll get upset when somebody I know we are high on and recruiting hard goes elsewhere. I stopped caring about Washington a long time ago.
