What CB is this staff going to land who's better than him?

Idk yet. It's very early on. CB isn't really a position of need. It seems like Dooley is majorly going after our positions of need. (OL, QB, TE, DL, ect.) I mean do we really hear from many other positions right now? I'm sure DD is calling and establishing relationships with other players but they aren't the priority right now.

the staff contacted him, he wasn't interested..... where is all the "staff never contacted him" coming from??? they guy had a visit scheduled at some point.... that doesn't happen without contact from someone on the staff

Washington said about a week before he committed to Bama that he had an upcoming meeting with Dooley.

We were recruiting him.

Wish we would have recruited him. I think this staff recruits and makes contact based on the recruits last name. So Washington wouldn't have heard from UT until they got to the W's.

:eek:hmy::eek:hmy: wow really dude:no:

I seen it. I heard from someone that their going to allow people to still recruit him. McNattVol can you confirm this? Thanks

Josh Ward reported on the animal, the day JW committed to AL, that when asked about his top schools, JW answered LSU was close... Then when asked where UT was, he said something to the effect of, "I hadn't heard much from TN..."

Now does that mean UT didn't contact him at all?? No. It appears that there was contact made, however, based on his answer, the contact appears to have been very minimal. It sounds like JW has nothing against UT, more like UT just had very little interest in him, which in my opinion is inexcusable based on his talent level and the fact that he's a Tennessee kid. You couple that with how CDD handled MacLain, and the slow start this year with recruiting, explains why I'm not very impressed with CDD to date. He's got 8 months to persuade me though for I'm not on the Big Orange Dooley just yet.

A, How is having a visit with Dooley set up = little to no contact.

B, How are we having a slow start in recruiting? By all accounts we are ahead of where Kiffin and crew were at this time last year.

A) Setting up a visit, assuming it was set up prior to his commitment, is not the end all when it comes to maximizing your relationship with the recruit... How about doing whatever it takes to keep this kid off AL's commitment list until you've received a visit from him or have at least visited him. You would think JW would have agreed to that had it have been requested from CDD.

B) Who cares where we were last year, that's not relevant because this is a new year. I rate the status of the recruiting class by how our rival schools within the conference are doing and we're getting killed by AL, LSU, GA, FL friggin UK, AU the list goes on. Not to mention, at this point last year, while the number of commitments might be the same, this years lone commitment, Harris is in no way comparable to the commitment we had in the best player in the state and a 5* prospect in Smith we had last year.

Half the schools you mentioned have won a NC in the past 3 years. With the exception of UK, they don't have a brand new coach, not to mention a 3rd head coach in 3 years. We are behind, it's a fact, you are acting like Dooley doesn't care and doesn't know what he is doing. If UT was in the same situation as the other schools, there is no doubt we would have several commits right now.

Honestly, if you were a recruit, would you rather go to a school who just won a NC, and has a bright future for the next few years; or go to a school that got their butt handed to them in the bowl game and who is on their 3rd head coach in 3 years, and has had the most losses in a 2 year span in school history? Which school would you go to? Dooley has a lot of work to do and a whole lot of ground to make up compared to the other schools. I'm sure he is working his butt off to help make us better.

The fact that he had a visit set up is proof that the staff was in contact with him. And quite frankly it worrys me that you think we should spend more time recruiting an instate kid that's not at a position of need just because he's an instate kid over an OL or QB.

We didn't do all that great early on last year and still ended up with a top ten class. Smith ended up committing at one point as well so it really doesn't matter.

Oh, in case you forgot, there is 284 days, 13 hours, 50 min and 5 seconds till NSD.

I've talked to Jabriel ALOT about how the Vols have been recruiting him ever since he got his offer at the o/w game last year. When kiffin was here, he was getting calls and letters like crazy, since dooley took over, its been dismal. Not saying he hasnt gotten the occasional call or letter or whatever they do to talk to him, its just been few and far between. He has nothing at all against UT, and they were def. in it for a good while. They just arent now, and idk if there is anything they can do at this point. And yes, they decide to evaluate him right after he commits to bama... that makes no sense at all to me.

+1

Some of the so called UT fans need to go find another team for real!! Dooley and staff are doing a heck of a job in recruiting.

wow anyone else get a flashback???

Last I checked, CDD placed Joseph at his current position. CLT should have been the RC IMO....

Lord Vader- Why do you say that? I think if just for perception you don't want your instate kids going to Alabama. I don't care if people think he's overrated or not. What i'm i missing on this?

Im no expert, and I'm not an insider either, but I'd say that he's not too interested in UT and were not too bad @ WR, so why fight that battle we can somewhat afford to lose when we've got others that we can't.
