'11 FL DE James Wilder Jr.

Or everyone will get all excited and he'll be this year's Jeff Luc.
I don't think anyone is getting too excited or thinking we have this kid locked up. I fully expect him to sign with FSU when all is said and done but it is nice to have a shot at a guy like this after where we were less than a year ago.

Agree it's always great to be in the running to land a kid of this status after what we have been through.

Are you kidding me? Maryland and NC State have as much talent as FSU? Wow, that couldn't be less true. They had good years, but talentwise it's not even close. Clemson is decent, but again, not as talented as FSU. They had a proven, senior quarterback, playmakers on offense and defense and a relatively easy schedule. They did play a lot better against their in state foes, but still got embarrassed by Oklahoma and Va Tech. It's their best year in a while, but it was still pretty mediocre. Not exactly setting the world on fire.

IMO, outside of Miami, FSU has the most raw talent and speed in the ACC this year, and while VA Tech is a great team and is always a factor, they aren't as talented as FSU or Miami. They're just better coached.

thats what im saying. mayland and those teams are as talented because FSU is very dwon and mediocre.
not because those teams are becoming great.
you apparently still have the idea that FSU is the FSU of the 80s and 90s.
They will be back but right now they arent as talented as you make them out to be.
that is why teams like TN are probably ahead of them talent wise right now
and why teams can look appealing to a recruit like wilder. im not saying i think TN gets him but the question was why would he consider someone other than FSU

I'm not even sure what your point is. I said from the very beginning I wouldn't say FSU is exactly "on the rise" because they had a relatively mediocre season this year despite their level of talent, which is pretty high (and usually is). Maryland and NC State can't hold a candle to FSU's talent. Simple as that.

No they aren't back in their heyday in terms of talent or results on the field, but I never even remotely made any claim that they were, so I'm not sure where that came from.

And I'm a vol fan too, but we aren't as talented as FSU this year, and I don't think anyone in their right mind would claim we are.

Also, please proofread a little before you post. My eyes hurt.

According to Jay in the Savon Huggins thread, FSU is trying to get in with 4-star RB Huggins, as well.

This is interesting because FSU already has two RBs committed in 4-star Devonta Freeman and 3-star APB Eric Beverly. Not to mention that James Wilder Jr. wants a shot at RB, which seems less and less likely with the Seminoles. Why, then, would they be looking at ANOTHER RB in Huggins?

Put the pieces together and...it looks compelling, for sure...

Faulty logic...

If he's playing LB for the Seminoles, and he knows he is, then why would them bringing in a RB change anything?

if he is planning on decommitting, i doubt FSU knows anything about it.

I agree with your post other than this point. I wouldn't call an OOC schedule of OU, BYU and UF easy by any stretch of the imagination. Even if the latter 2 are fairly down this year.

According to some posters here, Wilder is expecting to get a shot at RB with FSU. Them signing three other RBs in this class (or still just keeping the 2 they already have committed) doesn't help the idea that he'll get a fair shake at RB with the 'Noles.

I'm not saying that. I'm simply saying FSU already having 2 RBs in this class and pursuing a 3rd may be a sign to Wilder that he won't get a fair chance at RB with the Seminoles (like he wants), and, since we are possibly offering a spot at RB, might possibly give us the edge here, which is why all these rumors would start to begin with.

I'm not saying this is Gospel truth, but merely something interesting to think about.

If someone came to you and said "Hey, we want you at LB, but we'll give you a shot at RB." And then pursues a 3rd RB to go along with the other 2 already committed, I doubt you'd think they were being completely honest in their words concerning your chances at RB.

Plus they have Mario Pender coming in next season....even with Wilder and the othr two backs committed they still flirted with Aaron Green. Sounds like the Wilder's are keeping their option open.

We don't need this guy he has too many stars...probably a trouble maker.

Fair enough, but I do think the fact that BYU and UF are down is significant, because neither one of those teams are ranked. BYU is a .500 team and Florida isn't a whole lot better as we sit here today. You're probably right though, their schedule wasn't that bad.

Lots of trash talk on WC about the Vol with Wilder.....his side still denies the rumor about the visit but FSU seems worried...they had coaches visit him two days in a row and has an inhome set for Thursday.

Sounds like they are scared and there something there that suggest the rumor was in fact true.

Come on jmoore....the guy that posted that on VQ is a fraud/troll.

UT has maybe a 1% chance at landing Wilder.

The OP in that thread may be a flake troll, but if you read down a ways, Swan Man basically confirmed it, saying that "there is still work to be done".

Swan Man is a legit source of recruiting info -- not a flake and not a troll.

I believe Wilder was here, and we are recruiting him with at least a little bit of progress being made. That could also be an explanation for the very puzzling bit about us slow-playing Gionni Paul -- the numbers crunch if Wilder committed would make less room for Paul.

Just saying that I think we have a better than 1% chance with Wilder. Still, it would be a very, very tough pull.
