'11 FL DE James Wilder Jr.

Is this guy better suited on offense or defense? I mean, if we're offering him a shot at RB, is that the best move?

Stop overthinking this. Yes it is a good move. Look at how many stars he has.

Oh you're right. :) 5 stars, we might as well play him everywhere! No, I kid. I just went and watched a film of him. The guy is a force anywhere you stick him. I would like to have him more on the DL, BUT...I'll take him where we can get him.

He would be a great pick up. Glad to see you got my joke. Lol!

I still don't think we get Wilder. However, this is just a testament to how well Dooley and staff are progressing at recruiting. IMO, they have already proven themselves. However, they obviously have their doubters. If we pulled this kid, Dooley will be a freaking saint.

I wonder how much meat there is to this rumor. If he was the mystery 5* at the game, then that makes sense...committed to another school not in this conference...

I've learned not to count anyone out with this staff. Last year, nobody thought Da'Rick was a possibility. Year before, Janzen and Bryce Brown. I know that was a different staff, but Tennessee still has the ability to pull them in.

It'll be interesting what happens with this.

And I wouldn't call him a silent. I wouldn't jump any further than saying this rumor might be true. If there's a quote or a decommitment from him in the next few weeks, then I might get a little happy. But until then, I won't put too much stock into this.

That's exactly right. RB, LB, whatever...the kid is obviously very big, strong and talented on the football field. And with him being a 5star and one of the highest rated kids in this class, just getting him to sign with UT would be a monumental victory for our staff on many levels. Wilder will be a Vol come signing day IMO

How is FSU on the rise exactly? They came into the ACC season with probably the most talented team in the division and a good preseason ranking, and once again toiled in mediocrity and got blown out in the ACC title game.

Because their team is young and the new staff is full of proven recruiters, IMO. You may be right though, that staff could be plagued with the inability to coach-up the talent (i.e. Mark Richt and Les Miles).

This.

another thing that should help us here, is look at the competition he will have at RB down at FSU. They return their main 3 that shared carries this year, plus they give their FB some touches, and they are bringing in 2 more RB's in the class along with wilder right now. i think he can be the main guy here a lot quicker than he can down there

lets hope!

Agree...How are they on the rise? They are on the same level as we are IMO!

Because our staff will convince him that is the best thing for him to do?

On the other hand, Wilder could probably go straight into FSU and compete for the starting RB spot. Not to mention, he would have an easier time shining in a much weaker ACC as of late than shining against the powerhouses of the SEC.

I'm disapointed he is the big fish. I don't even like him as a linebacker (compared to who we have a shot at). This is all JMO though.
