Because Buie is better and Dooley purposely picked the worst RB only because he was a local. Did you miss the memo![]()
And he played against shi**y competition! That's what you don't get. If DY is the best player on the field and everyone else is blind does it make him good? DY's best competition was Maryville, which would get smoked by 1A and 2A schools in FL. There's a reason why when Maryville had their great run they still couldn't crack the top 50 nationally. 80+ game winning streak, 5-6 titles and still no respect? I was embarrassed that Maryville was considered "great" football. Then again, I grew up watching Fred Taylor, Reidel Anthony, Santonio Holmes, Anquan Bolden, Edgerrin James, Javarris James, Terrance Cody, etc. I believe HG, Miamicane, and I4 can vouch for the type of talent and competition I've seen by growing up south of Lake Okeechobee.

Let's just say this: The staff isn't going to get a guy to come on the last weekend of visits if they don't want him. The staff is after Andrew Buie and want him it would seem.
I agree that they want him, but I don't see them accepting his commitment unless one of 2 things happen.
1) We miss on Lane. We then we gladly take Buie and be done at RB.
2) We get Lane, but whiff on many of our remaining prospects. Then we would take Lane and Buie's commitments.
Still it would be hard for me see the staff take 2 more RBs in this class, but if they did I wouldn't complain. Buie is an elite talent. Could really help us receiving out of the backfield and do some things in the passing game. Has UT ever got 3 FLA RBs in one class?
It'll be interesting. We are in the lead for Lane. I believe the staff will take Buie no matter what and instead of getting one more corner move Devrin to DB. He's short at 5'7, but he could cover slot guys against spread teams. No inside info, but the staff wouldn't tell a local kid they were dropping him two weeks before NSD. That just doesn't look good on any level, especially here where we few kids have any talent to play here. It should be interesting.

Sorry, getting in on this a bit late...didn't Auburn have Buie on their short list as recently as the 3rd wk of Dec?? What changed?
Speaking of change...
Russell had been zeroing in on Wasonga, now he seems hot for Buie. Both are similar in build---styles are a little different. Do we know why the change of direction??
accepting Kris Frost's commitment probably took them down a number on the incoming Frosh list and Buie was probably their lowest priority
Wasonga fell out of favor with the staff nearly a month ago, didnt he?
actually more than a month ago.
Auburn did have him on their short list, but that has recently changed. He was expected to take a visit to Auburn this weekend, but they basically told him they were full and he is now staying home this weekend.
On Wasonga I believe the ship sailed on him awhile ago. The staff went a different direction with him and started looking at multiple other backs. I don't know for sure, but I think it was attitude problems. Many elite teams backed off of him just like UT did.
Now I would say the two main backs left on our board are Marlin Lane, Andrew Buie, Milton, and Pickett. Hope that helps :hi:
