'11 MI RB Justice Hayes

I think the coaches have proven by now that they really do have ability at evaluating talent. If they drop Young people should realize that he is just being replaced by someone better. I don't see why you would have a problem with it when you are bringing in a more talented player who can improve our team.

We will never hear the end of the **** storm if the coaches drop DY

We will also never hear the end of it when Young muffs a punt.

It's almost a lose-lose.

I sure hope he proves everyone wrong, but he has his work cut out for him.

Their retort would be either: A) Randall Cobb! or B) He bleeds orange!

I agree with you to an extent. I do think the coaching staff can evaluate talent. And they see big things in Young. I trust them to make the best decision and if that means giving Young a scholly or cutting him then I will back them either way.

Personally, I want to see Young excel at UT. It is always nice to have a homegrown kid do well - it does great things for a fanbase and I would hate to see him win games for a rival.

I want every player we sign to succeed. I am all for DY playing for UT. I wish we would've let him hold off on his committment with us still in it for alll these guys though.

It really says alot about our strength in recruiting if you have to question whether Hayes is a take at this point. Our class is closing quickly and in my opinion, Young should be the one of the first to be asked to look around if needed.

I'm not at either extreme of the DY debate - I think he'd be a great special teams player for us and would love have him as a Vol, but at the same time I think there are better players out there who should replace him if we can get them to commit.

That being said, it's just unfortunate that the staff has put themselves in this position unnecessarily. DY would've been a Vol if they offered him a spot the night before NSD. If he is absolutely the #1 guy on their board (and who knows, he might be), then it's fine to go ahead and lock him up. But if you know you want to pursue bigger fish, then why go ahead and take the commitment of a local guy, knowing that it will ruffle the feathers of a lot of local fans if you have to ask him to look around later?

Jesus I did'nt mean to start ANOTHER DY argument, all I was trying to do is compare the players speed.

1st, Bellamy is a long shot a long long long shot! Bigelow is more than likely staying on the West Coast & going to Cal. If we take Hayes which is still in question then were done. No way in heck do we have a chance of getting 2 out of those 3 so for the people thinking it's a possibility just stop! The staff is taking 1 more RB & thats it, & they want that to be a speed back.

2nd, DY is going NOWHERE!!! He is a VOL, it's not changing. I understand people have opinions & I'm not bashing your opinion at all but stop with the DY should be asked to look around ect... cause it's NOT happening. The worst scenario would be the staff ask him to greyshirt & Young would probably end up doing that because he wants to be a Vol bad enough & it would help the TEAM win!

He doesn't have an offer from any of our rivals, but regardless I hope Young does big things at UT.

I wonder how many other recruits' threads contain at least 1 Devrin Young debate. If only there was some way we could group posts by topic so that all the posts related to each recruit would be in one place. One can only dream

Prepare to be chastized by MHF for taking Jesus' name in vain

I could see one of the Georgia kids being asked to look somewhere else before they ask DY. Everyone can be hell bent on passing on him untill they have a friendly reminder each year in early September when Florida torches UT again with speed.

Florida isn't exactly torching anyone without 3rd and Tebow.

We have a good shot of getting Hayes and you said in another thread that Bigelow is 50/50 basically between UT and Cal. So we have a realistic chance of possibly landing two of three. Hypothetically in this situation what should our coaching staff do? Not take either Hayes or Bigelow and keep Young? Or take both Hayes and Bigelow, ask Young to gray shirt if he wants? I think it's obvious that the staff should take Hayes and Bigelow if they want to come. I think it's alright for fans to speculate on what our staff would do in certain recruiting situations even if it involves Young.

What's UT's record against Florida the last two decades without tebow?

I forgot, it was all about speed and not the fact that our coach couldn't hang with Urban Meyer for one second. Just speed. What was I thinking?

PS - why change the subject? We didn't get "torched". 14 point loss, I was there in person to see it. If we had a QB worth a shiz in there, we have a great shot at winning.

A question: If Hayes commits, do we stop recruiting Bigelow? I'm not thinking so. You pretty much HAVE to take both if they both want to come. /fantasy world.

I am not certain that the odds for getting Bigelow are even 50/50.. I think that the things that have transpired in the past couple of weeks (Arnett's commitment, Multiple decommitments from ND, etc.) have put us in a great position to get Justice Hayes though.. If that does happen I believe that the staff will not consider taking another RB, with the exception of Bellamy possibly.. We have many more holes to fill with the remaining scholarships..

I hope D. Arnett is staying on Hayes and hopefully he will decide to come and be a part of the resurgence on the Hill..

GO VOLS!!!

The past few years UF had been torching people with speed because they had speed all over the field, not just one guy on special teams. Besides if we drop DY for either Bigelow or Bellamy were not losing any speed, were actually upgrading since they could contribute on both special teams and on offense. Which Georgia kid would they ask to look around? All of our commits from GA are legit and why would we ask them to look around when we're not getting a commit to upgrade their position? The only reason people are talking about asking DY to gray shirt or look around is because we would be upgrading with either Bigelow or Bellamy.

Yea I agree I don't think the odds of getting Bigelow are 50/50 either but I do think we have a realistic shot of getting him. Hopefully if Hayes commits the staff won't stop recruiting Bigelow and Bellamy, they are play makers that we need on offense and on special teams.

If Hayes commits and one of the other 2 decide to commit, even better. DY is a keeper too.... that is a great problem for our staff to have and they got to figure out a way around it.

This staff is doing a great job. On the field and recruiting.

Go Vols!
