'11 MI RB Justice Hayes

Rivals has the NFL comparison for Hayes dead on: Ahmad Bradshaw. Hayes and Oku's films do not remind me a lot of each other, Hayes is going to be a great RB wherever he goes because of his combination of vision, elusiveness, and agility. He does lack breakaway speed, but that is one of the most overrated things there is. You tell me outside of 3-4 starting RBs in the NFL, who has breakaway speed. Foster doesn't have breakaway speed, Bradshaw doesn't, Mendenhall doesn't.... vision and acceleration are key.

I agree Rivals comparison to Ahmad Bradshaw is a very good comparison for Justice and Arian Foster doesn't have breakway speed. On the other hand, Mendenhall had breakway speed in college, haven't kept up with his pro career. Although his Illini team lost to USC a few years ago in the Rose Bowl he ran for over 200 yards on their defense and had a couple runs for over 50 yards, I think one was for 70 or 80. I remember dropping my jaw at how fast he was and had never seen anyone run like that on those dominant USC teams (except Vince Young).

I'd agree with this. I can't believe there was much of an argument about Hayes either. I think Mendenhall is pretty damn fast though.

I think Hayes will be a really good receiving back as well. JMO.

Hayes hits the hole hard, is patient, is elusive, has good vision and good hands. He can play every down, from 1st & 10 to 3rd & 1.

there is no label for Hayes, hes a Running back. period.

if you would rather have a positionless specialist over a stud RB I dont know what to tell you. Either youre not thinking rationally or maybe youre not thinking at all.

Okay after reading 10 pages on arguments here are my thoughts.

1st, Hayes does'nt posses true breakaway speed. I'm not saying he is slow by any means, he does have some speed but not breakaway speed like Bellamy, Young, or Bigelow. He does have some great vision & cut back ability.

2nd, were not getting Bigelow & Bellamy. Heck we wont even get 1 of those to go along with Hayes if he wanted to come. We have 1 spot left at RB, the staff wants a speedster. The first one to commit out of those 3 will get the spot & we will be done at RB. So for those people thinking we could take 2 out of those 3 you've lost your mind it's not happening.

3rd, Young is not a RB for this class. He is a KR/PR for us & will run some special packages on Offense like the wildcat & end round we see run with Da'Rick.

4th, I'll take Hayes right now because you can never have to many RB's.

He is good friends with Arnett and is/was the mystery recruit couple weeks back. He will be a vol, Arnett has been on him for a month!

Hayes is a stud. Can do it all- run, block, catch. He's a really good kid too. Has good speed, but not elite speed. There's where the dilemma lies.

How bad do they want the lightning back? How good do they feel about being able to land a kid like Bigelow? Do they feel the health issue is worth the risk? That's what we don't know & only time will tell.

If it's up to me, I take Hayes in a heartbeat & throw the kitchen sink at a 4.3 kid in the '12 class.

Just let Simms throw it. No one will get hurt that way.

Rushel Shell? I wish.

Any kid who signs will be riding the pine after we sign Barry Sanders Jr. next year...wishful thinking.

The argument earlier contained Bellamy, Bigelow, Tom Smith, Dy. Some were discussing who was gonna get cut if we got him, also debating if he should be takin over Bellamy or Bigalow. The discussion has since changed a bit. To get him as is would be cool, but he's not the homerun threat everyone has been harping on. And we shouldn't be cutting ANYONE for him. He's a good solid running back.

Pat Martin My boy J.Hayes! Your best future will be running in that checker board every saturday!txt me man
