'11 MI RB Justice Hayes

His vision and change of direction are excellent. His acceleration isn't bad, either and if you think he isn't fast then you are a fool. Not everybody has to be Chris Johnson or DeSean Jackson fast to be faster than everyone else out on the field.

He is exactly what we are looking for- a speed type, homerun hitter who can do big things in space.

Well the FIRST hurdle we need to cross here is that we are not gonna get Bigelow or Bellamy. I think some are convinced we are gonna get one of the 2, I was starting to believe it. That clears alot up. So if that's the case, I can see where you are coming from, but I still wouldn't cut anyone for him. Hey, it's just my opinion.

I can't understand the point you are arguing. We are not going to get Bellamy or Bigelow. Young is not a RB. Do you want us to pass on Hayes and take some lower rated?

honestly i would love to have bigelow but if we are really not going to land him i just think it is unfortunate that this is the only option that we are left with. again i have only seen one actual highlight of him so i may be a little harsh in my evaluation. that is why i asked what other videos you had seen on him.

I guess this is what has everyone confused is he a speed back or not confusing reports. Looking at the film it doesn't look like it but hard to tell.

Very conscious of clearing his feet from the arm tacklers going low. Runs bigger than his listed size. Makes people miss with subtle moves rather than exaggerated lateral movement. Very good runner in traffic helps him eat up chunks of yardage quickly despite not having blazing top end speed. Very little wasted motion in his running style. Vision in traffic makes him valuable between the tackles despite his size - Scott Kennedy, Scout.com

Most Impressive: Very, very quick back with good speed and ball skills. Hayes is very versatile and could player defensive back, wide receiver or running back at the next level. He is a high-character kid that possesses serious leadership skills by Barry Every - 06/03/2010

They don't have to be Chris Johnson or DeSean Jackson to be good. But someone doesn't have to be a FOOL for having a different opinion on something either. I understand this, but obviously some don't.

good info by the scout guy thanks

As I said, this riot started because there was a debate on what to do. In the debate was Bellamy, Bigello, Smith, DY, and Hayes. Folks were debating on if you take Hayes over Bellamy, etc... And or who to drop if we took Hayes. So the debate/thread has taken a few turns this A.M. It hasn't just been a "do we take Hayes" discussion. I think that's where alot of the confusion came into play as well. Being that we probably won't get Biggalo or Bellamy, that changes the course of the ENTIRE discussion. See what I'm saying?

I tried to say he had incredible speed last night, and was scoffed at.

I remember this cat very well from earlier in the year. He was a take then, and is now.

If Devrin Young was from any other place outside of East Tennessee nobody would want him over Hayes.

Is there a potential "Oku-esque" problem here? They have similar clocked speeds and weight coming out of high school. Is it possible that with some added muscle weight that Hayes could lose some of his speed too?

Hayes reminds me a lot of Oku. But if used correctly, Oku can be a good back.

you do realize he pulled away from the whole team while jumping over a guy and a guy with the perfect angle on him couldn't catch him until he was in the endzone after an 80 yard TD right?

:lolabove:

i didn't know that coming all the way fromt the other side of the field was a good angle.

then you never played football.

I played corner in high school. In all fairness it is never easy to run down a speedy back from across the field, but he was 20 yards deep and had a very wide angle. Like I said, you or I could have ran him down at that angle and I sure don't run 4.44 speed.

And he scored anyways. Who cares if he ran him down?

bingo

I am no recruiting expert but I do watch a lot of high school and college football. First of all I don't think you have to have elite speed to be a top notch back (See Lattimore, Ingram, and Trent Richardson). If you have good vision, good quickness, and can break tackles you can make a living running the ball. Only problem I see is that he is a lot like Tom Smith. Not sure why we take to backs that are so similar, but that is also why I am not getting paid millions to coach and Tennessee. Oh and for those that do not want him or DY, I am glad you are not our recruiting coordinator.
