Saw that too. I don't think it means anything though. I think he is just enjoying the attention he's been getting IMO.

Yeah, about a week ago he said he had no interest in So Car. My guess is he got too excited, and spouted off about UT a bit too much. Now he is trying to bring back a little drama into his commitment so the public commitment will come with a bit more fanfare. IMHO.

agreed...in a article earlier in the summer he said that he was bothered by USCjr offering him so late... plus everyone thought it would be an LSU-UT battle...my guess is he choose a school that he actually has visited as his other finalist... but who knows... sure hope we land this kid

i dont think this kid is worried about the drama. he's a pretty humble kid. i do think that he might have felt he was rushing things though.

victor hampton, marcus lattimore, and kelcey quarles are all SC boys. thats just from the last class, quarles and lattimore could have gone elsewhere without a doubt. i cant remember about hampton, but i recall academic issues being a concern with other schools, or something like that.

gilmore was a huge bama lean? he was committed to UT for a long time and switched to South Carolina with the coaching change.........never saw bama anywhere in there.

Quarles was a SC kid from the outset. He entertained looks from UT but his going anywhere but SC was a reach. In fact, I believe Quarles' dad either played at SC or had some other connections to SC. His dad was pushing him hard to SC.

I doubt that's the case with Martin, although SC won't give up on him. Need to bring him up for the Oregon game and get a W . . .

I think he just got excited over a weekend.

The players I listed all did the same thing...visited a school...went ape $hit..... got the fan base all amped up but ended up going somewhere else

Quarles did this to us but hard to use him with our staff changes.

Gilmore teased Bama, Jeffrey teased So Cal, Latt teased Auburn, etc etc

These SC kids have a lot of instate pressure....especially since Spurrier has sunk his feet in. They are staying in-state now.

I hope I am wrong on this and Pat commits today....but I aint holding my breath.

For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want to go to SC, it honestly baffles me. Not saying Martin does, just saying in general.

You know that I will. The Vols in the recent past have pulled many a recruit from that state, and we will once again. The only reason we havent as much lately IMO is the lack of continuity with our coaches.
