'11 SC S Pat Martin - UT Signee

UPDATE: So Pat Martin went from having two finalists and being ready to commit to being back up to five contenders? That's what he tells Josh Low of TheBigSpur.com. Martin says that Tennessee still leads, but that South Carolina, LSU and North Carolina (which has not offered) remain in the running. He adds that he still hopes to announce before the season, but even if he did he would still take officials to Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU and UCLA ... plus North Carolina, we assume.

Martin still has plans to camp at Tennessee and South Carolina. He said that one of the things that is hurting the Gamecocks is that he hasn't meant Steve Spurrier yet. Umm, that's pretty easily rectified, we imagine.
ESPN.
Says hes opening things up a little but we still lead.

Hmmmmm. A new, interesting twist.

I think the kid might have jumped the gun a little, and maybe mom had to talk him down off the ledge a little. I think ultimately we end up getting Pat's commitment, but I can't blame the kid for taking a step back and reevaluating. Hopefully he realized the opportunities we offer and decides that is best for his development/future.

Espn is pretty much clueless in forecasting where recruits go, but this is what pat actually said.

There is no picking one over the other. The info espn gave is not an opinion its fact from Pats mouth so there should be no deciding to believe it or not. That said i and pretty much everyone else still believe he is a vl.

I don't think anyone is trying to ruffle your feathers. I think that it is merely a comment on how far off base ESPN is. Hell they didn't even have us in the running for Worley and he committed. I understand your point, but I chose to take it with a grain of salt. You can take it to heart if you like, its cool.

No hard feeling were taken or meant to be given, i apologize if they were. As far as espn ill be one of the first to say they suck at the recruiting game, but they are a good source for straight up quotes (even they cant screw those up).

ESPN reporters "hear" what will make a good story... sometimes without regard to what was actually said.

Martin, Walls, Randolph, Ronnie Harris, and Torrey Campbell will be our Db's taken in this class

Randolph, Martin, and Walls, appear to be likely at Safety, but the CBs are up for grabs. I don't think anyone can predict how it's gonna play out there.

Coleman is committing at the end of the month and the Vols appear to be the favorite. King has been made a top priority by the staff. Dallas has the Vols out in front and may be a CB. If Miami keeps slow playing Crawford, he could end up a Vol. We may end up having to re-recruit Loften or Dixon from Prep school. Milton, Washington, Christian, Harris, and Campbell are still possibilities too.

I could see us taking as many as 6 DBs depending on how Dixon, Clark, and Loften shake out.
