I hope we sign Randolph, but penciling him in that *many* potential starting spots of an *excellent* backfield seems to be reaching, IMO. I'm not saying that to knock him, but I don't see him as an immediate starter in an excellent backfield.

SS: Eddrick Loften/ Brian Randolph
CB: Avery Walls
Nickel: Brian Randolph
Randolph growing into an OLB could also be a possibility. However, if we swap to a 3-4, he'd really be too small, then. I think his best position would be at Nickel or Safety if Loften doesn't make it in to UT.

We'd have a young but VERY talented defensive backfield.

That's not to mention some of the young guys we already have.

Hopefully Marcques Dixon and Dave Clark make it in, too, and we'd really be set in the defensive backfield for years to come.

Would love it in a year or two for sure. That many 18-19 year olds in one SEC defensive backfield would get lit up like the beaches of Normandy.....LOL

Hope we have a slightly better plan than that one...:eek:k:

Apparently everyone forgets about the current players on the roster during the offseason. Naz Oliver (once recovered), Eric Gordon, Prentiss Wagner.

Randolph is a stud and Martin is a bigtime talent. Walls doesn't impress me that much. I've seen film and watched him at Sandy Creek and I just don't think he's that special.

We're still his leader. There is a good read on rivals. Says his mom is going to be 99% in on his decision, and that she fell in love with Knoxville. Also stated:

"Once I commit, then I'm going to go all-out," Martin said. "I'm going to try to get everybody. I want Gabe Wright, DeAnthony Arnett and others. Just all the best players."

i get the feeling that Pat is ready to committ to the Vols but is waiting to see what becomes of all these other prospects that he has been talking us up to. kinda like"i want to do this but i want you guys to do it with me."

This should be a dead give away right here. The only other school he's considering is South Carolina, correct? I don't even think South Carolina is after these two, i may be wrong on this though.

Exactly what I was going to post...unless something drastic happens it sounds like he is already set on his school...can't wait to see his version of "all out" though....

That's the first thing I thought of as well

Pat's top 2: UT, USCjr
Gabe's top 4: UT, UA, AU, UGA
DeAnthony's top 5: UT, Mich St, Oklahoma, USC, Iowa

and Pat wants to recruit Gabe and DeAnthony to play with him
