'11 SC S Pat Martin - UT Signee

Here is some JUCO film of Martin for those that may be curious...

Patrick Martin - Highlight Videos, Schedule & Roster - Hudl

All I can say about that is their QB is terrible. Martin will probably end up in the WAC or MAC. He has a Pac 12 offer or two also. It's funny that he lists several SEC schools among his current favorites, but none of them have offered (also includes GA Tech).

Good luck to him. There's 0% chance we offer him again (response to prior poster).

Yep, timing was off as well as the throws but the WRs weren't getting any separation either.

This is the type of kid that gets a schollie when a better player gets overlooked. Don't know what the hell Dooley and Wilcox were looking at.

Martin was a 4* and ranked 14th best safety by Rivals out of HS. He offer list was very good including USC jr., Oklahoma and LSU.

I know, Dooley had an incredible talent. He rarely signed 4 stars, but when he did they were busts.

This is crazy, I remember this kid being a VFL then he had a kid before he ever got to campus. People my age make stupid mistakes. But he'll still get a free education from some where. Some people don't know how good they've got it.

Can't help but laugh at this.

MTSU is 8-4 and playing in a bowl game this year. They beat Georgia Tech last year. Considering UT couldn't do the first and would have struggled hard with the second, I wouldn't be laughing if I were you. Even though Martin didn't work out at Tennessee, he's still a great get for Middle.

I agree 100%. Us football fans in the Boro are spoiled. We have some good football here, and I'm excited about this pickup. Of course Tennessee is my favorite team, by far, but with my Granddad, a former blue raider football player, and sister MTSU Grads, I go to all their games and root for them vs anyone except UT.

Indeed. I'm very happy with how Middle's athletic program has improved in the last few years. Plus the local HS ball is some of the best in the state. And I'm totally with you on the rooting interests. I see no problem with cheering for both UT and MTSU in football. It's not as if there's any real rivalry there.

I found if funny because of the reason he transferred. Thought he should have been starting at UT his freshman year, I guess he got a cold dose of reality when MTSU was the best team that would take him out of juco. I have no idea why them beating Georgie Tech LAST YEAR is relevant in any way whatsoever...outside of attempting to strengthen your argument I suppose. We beat NC State last year, I'd be willing to bet MTSU would've gotten spanked by them. And MTSU recruiting isn't in the same solar system as UT, I hope you weren't trying to compare the two. MTSU wouldn't have won a game against an SEC opponent this year (except possibly Kentucky) much less be 8-4 so I don't even know why I'm replying lol.

Comparing MTSU and UT is ridiculous. UT would have been better than 8-4 with their schedule. Difference in competition is immense. Martin was too slow to play DB in the SEC. MTSU is an appropriate level for him.

Then DON'T reply. It helps UT in literally no way for you two goons to beat up on Middle. Clearly, they're not even in the same universe when it comes to competition and recruiting, as if pointing that out makes you some sort of all-righteous football wizard. Furthermore, there's no need for you to feel like you need to defend UT - we're all on the same team here, but there's no way you can argue that rooting for MTSU against their VASTLY INFERIOR schedule (in case you felt like you needed to make that ridiculously obvious point again), a schedule that has almost never included UT, somehow makes anyone less of a Tennessee fan. Like you said, they're not even close to being on the same level. No one is saying that Tennessee somehow lost out on Martin...only that he is a great pickup for MTSU (which he is). So bug off somewhere. Go pick on an Alabama fan instead of a low-level instate program that just got out of the FCS 15 years ago.

Hahaha. Dont have an aneurism. That response was so over the top and inappropriate to the current topic being discussed in this thread. It was good for a laugh though. I live in Murfreesboro and like MTSU athletics. No way was anything said by anybody in this thread a slam on MTSU. They just play at a different level than UT. Nothing wrong with that. They have been successful playing at that level. You were the one that took 'shots' at UT by bringing up MTSU's record and victory over Georgia Tech. Stating that Martin is an MTSU level football player is just a fact. It is not a slight against MTSU's football program. Geez....

Clearly, we have different definitions of a "slam", like, you know, maybe an outlandish, unrealistic, and totally pointless comparison of schedule. It doesn't change the validity of anything I said.

Aren't you the one who mentioned their 8-4 record and bowl eligibility while UT isn't?
