'11 SC S Pat Martin - UT Signee

Martin was homesick, and is trying to take care of other responsibilities at home. He wasn't "Sabanized" or anything like that. Wish Pat nothing but the best. He's a great kid with a bright future ahead of him.

I understand all of that, but why go to GMJC? Seems to me you would want to be closer to home. Also, couldn't we support him and his "other responsibilities" better than they could?

Maybe this is stupid. I'm just thinking out loud.

This maybe true, but we won't know for a few years how good he is. We wouldn't have even known for a few years here. There's just too many variables to really know how he would have ended up as a player here.

He was the worst looking DB prospect out of this class once he got on campus.

He could have turned into a good player, but when he left here, he was mediocre at best.

Which makes me think he may have been nudged out. At the very least, Dooley didn't put up much of a fight to keep him.

Sometimes you let yourself into free agency, so the stacked team can pick you up and give you that big ass contract you want. Chris Paul - Lakers.

Wouldn't it be awesome if ut signed martin and clear again from this juco school that would be interesting

If we signed Martin again, the coaches should be fired on the spot. Why on earth would we sign a player that lacks talent to the extent that Martin did twice?
