'11 TN DB Derek King

Yeah I got that. But quoting your friend's comment like it's some insider info on why King is slipping is laughable to me.

I implied that I didn't believe him, hardly me trying to give insider info

As I said I want King, you cannot teach speed, and we need truck loads of speed right now if we want to be competitive in the SEC

King has picked up offers from Vandy, Louisville, MTSU, and WKU.

that's about right......I don't think he's going to be a great SEC player, he's not that fast either......probably runs a 4.5 or 4.55 electronic 40....... decent speed, lacks cutting ability/ shiftiness...... decent tackler....not an impact player.....after a RS year and 1-2 years on the bench and on Special Teams, he will be an above-average D1 player.....not sure if that's what we're looking for.......could help ST's some as a tackler....with the talent we've got coming in at Safety, he's probably a back-up take at corner, if we have a scholly left for him.....

Decent speed? Kid has wheels and is college built right now.

I don't think his football speed is that great, judging by his film......very stiff hips and lacks cutting ability.......hard to tell bc/ most of highlights were at running back, and he's not a very good running back, IMO....

Those offers were a LONG time ago. He now holds offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc.

And he is much faster than a 4.5. He runs an official 10.68 100m.

He doesn't look that fast on this reel.....but it's hard to say unless you see him play in person...... if Dooley thinks he'll be a good player, then that's good enough for me..... he's definitely a strong kid....

I think everyone knows who his top team is, its just a matter of numbers and if he gets a committable offer come signing day.

just got a text from a friend in nashville saying he committed to us this morning...

not sure if true or not...

TIFWIW.

Multiple people out of BA are saying King commited in front of an assembly, Hubbs said he feels the staff isnt ready to take his commitment at this point. This could get interesting.

Wow, seems like just a few weeks ago everyone was saying he was our #1 DB target. What happened?

The staff really liked him at the camp over the summer & made him one of the top DB's on the board, then his season started & the staff got some film of him & watched him play & they started backing off.

Hubbs has been only one to say that King is down on the board so we will see who is right. If we get King, then we are done at CB with 3 very good ones that have good size and speed. Also, we would more than likely be done at safety with Loften, Randolph, and Martin. I think King takes Marcus spot on the board since Marcus committed to the cocks.

yeah, apparently he committed this morning at BA...but didn't tell the coaches? lol

will be interesting to see how this is handled.

I know for a fact that he was the number 1 db on the board in early Aug. I haven't heard a word about him since then except here.

Would not be the 1st guy this year to assume a OFFER from Tennessee was just that...an OFFER. Nothing like going through the process, talking it over with family, friends, coaches, and then calling an assembly to announce playing for the in state school....Wait...whats that? I am no longer a consideration? Thanks! LOL
