I get the feeling this staff will make this a common practice. Offer the local instate kids just to make it look good. When it comes time to accept the offers....they will be singing a different tune. High Character or Shady dealings?

Simple, I speak to the 4-5 star young men to gage their interest. If they obviously want to go through the process and decide closer to signing day...I let him know we would love to have him and IF he decides he wants to be a Vol, I will offer him if I have space left. I would be sure to tell them to monitor our numbers and position needs. If a player tells me he knows he wants to be a VOL in the opening talks and I felt he was worth it....he gets an OFFER. Yes, I know people will say you can't do it this way....but, have we tried it? Something tells me your clas would tend to fill up alot faster, and some bigger names would come off the board a little sooner. JMO
Flame away!
I'm not trying to flame jsut interested in why or how you think that might work..
If a staff does not call kids they are interested in every week right up until signing day then the kid will likely head elsewhere. Even if a kid commits a year before signing day they have to keep calling or he could duck out of the commitment. Nothing to hold him and he starts thinking you ar enot interested and all those other schools still calling are interested.
I can't imagine any way what you are promoting would work.

You obviously know absolutely nothing. Last year we signed two Tennessee kids. This year we currently have five committed and it would appear at least two more on the way, possibly three if they take King.
Horrible idea. College football is a business that's about winning and winning only. Getting the best players is how you win, if you piss off Billy Bob from Jellico in the process, too bad.

lay off the guy please. if you stop replying to him he'll quit posting about it!!!!
if he's posting on this site this much then chances are he understands the recruiting process, and understands this happens.
He's just muckraking the fact that it's a dirty business. The guy has an opinion, don't let it get under your skin.
Anyway back to topic. Has anyone heard more info about King announcing at BA? Was this a rumor or has it been confirmed? I know Hubbs or someone over at TOS has probably investigated this further... Any news here?
Basically what happened is King told some friends at school that he wanted to go to Tennessee but he was still listening to other schools & those friends ran & text their dads & it got out that King "commited" to TN. Hubbs said that King does have TN on top as of right now but the staff doesnt want to take his commitment at thist time.
Hey YOU...you be you and I'll be me ok?...lol...GBO!lay off the guy please. if you stop replying to him he'll quit posting about it!!!!
