'11 TN DB Derek King

Would not be the 1st guy this year to assume a OFFER from Tennessee was just that...an OFFER. Nothing like going through the process, talking it over with family, friends, coaches, and then calling an assembly to announce playing for the in state school....Wait...whats that? I am no longer a consideration? Thanks! LOL

OMG! Here we go again, :banghead2::banghead2::no::no:

That's how life can be, deal with it. Stop crying.

Just saying...if we are going to take another DB, besides (my favorite) Dallas Crawford, King doesnt seem to be a bad option.

Im not an expert though

People who complain about offers and whether they are committable or conditional need to get over it. Every major program offers hundreds of kids. This is part of the process. Get the f over it.

Never heard of sand being in the vag this long, might want to see a specialist.

Hubbs said King might want to commit but the staff isnt ready for his commitment.

if we take his commitment it means others we prefer have said no and I would be shocked if we had no's at this point in time.

these kids screw up frequently by comments they make when a school is not ready to take a commitment. Almost all offers have "contingencies" around them. Otherwise, schools would be embarrassed all the time.

Hmmm, I will be interested to see how this plays out.

I have heard alot about a JUCO CB being the route our staff wants to go now.

Can someone fill me in on what this was about?

Honestly I have no ties to Parker, Power, or King. I am just a fan who thinks if your going to make an offer to a kid and he wants to be a VOL then it should be a done deal. Maybe if we actually started to display the character CDD speaks about as a program and kept our word of an OFFER..then alot of these kids who like to wait till the last minute and keep 15 schools waiting on them....would announce sooner..or just not be a VOL. I note that it seems alot of teams like Texas has almost a full class for the next year, 2 months after signing day. They don't wait on kids. If you want a spot you better take it before they are gone. I would have no issue with recruiting like this. Of course, if we did that....I guess CDD and staff could still cut kids loose every time a higher rated kid called. Everyone can keep telling me "It's the way recruiting is so just shut up". Uh, No. I have my opinion and you don't have to like it or accept it. Much like I don't have to accept being ok with recruiting over kids just a month ago we were telling them how much we wanted them to be a VOL. IMO, if your not going to honor the offer, don't make it. Why not tell the kid "IF we miss on every other player we are after...at every position...I may be able to take you. Call me on NSD about 5pm and maybe I can offer you. Maybe all teams do it...I just don't care to see it from this "High Character" Staff. JMO:thumbsup:

Guess what. We got your point in the twenty previous posts whining about this. I suggest a more constructive use of your time like playing in traffic.

What if all of the 150 or so kids that have Vol offers wanted to commit at the same time?

What say you then?

Multiple people out of BA are saying King commited in front of an assembly, Hubbs said he feels the staff isnt ready to take his commitment at this point. This could get interesting.

Come on Dooley, don't stall out on the in-state guys....

College football is a business. Its called a conditional offer. Yeah, let's turn down the highly rated, better prospect on NSD because we gave his spot to an average "hometown" player.

Simple, I speak to the 4-5 star young men to gage their interest. If they obviously want to go through the process and decide closer to signing day...I let him know we would love to have him and IF he decides he wants to be a Vol, I will offer him if I have space left. I would be sure to tell them to monitor our numbers and position needs. If a player tells me he knows he wants to be a VOL in the opening talks and I felt he was worth it....he gets an OFFER. Yes, I know people will say you can't do it this way....but, have we tried it? Something tells me your clas would tend to fill up alot faster, and some bigger names would come off the board a little sooner. JMO

Flame away!

Oh yeah, because it's obviously better to wait until NSD and when your batch of higher rated guys pick another school and our positional needs have not been met. Then we can just scout the wire for who was arrested and thrown out of another school to see if we can get them enrolled. LOL

I don't care where the kid is from. I don't think Parker would be considered a "hometown" player.
