Good luck to him...
IMO...he's a Vanderbilt caliber player...we've got bigger fish on the board at his position...
He'll do okay there and get a great education in the process
Don't be that harash!Just do us all a favor, log out and lose your password. You have no clue what you're talking about. Seriously.
Totally agree it just they way it is at the end of the day Dooley and the whole coaching staff have to put biscuits and gravy on the table and if you have a kid that you think can bring it better than the in-state guy or a fellow that once had a offer and you now have to snatch away; thats why Dooley has a 6/7 figure contract and we are talking about it. Besides all of us do it on our Dynasty mode on the Xbox or Playstationjob preservation?
I feel for the KidMy daughter is a classmate and a friend of Dereks at BA. Derek made an announcement on Tuesday that he was commiting to the Vols at a school assembly then was told later by the coaches that he waited too long to commit and UT was no longer offering him a scholarship. Derek was obviously very disapointed but he is a great kid and extremely bright and I am sure he will do great at Vandy. As others have said there is a dirty side of recruiting that we don't want to know about. It's just tougher to deal with when its a local kid that your family knows.

I will not say the same things again as I have made my opinions clear but, To tell the young man he waited too long IMO is obviously not the situation. IF he had decided to commit they would have still cut him lose if they got a higher rated kid interested.
Them damn Vols, they offering and turning down everybody. I can understand the Kid wanting to make sure he made the right decision and weight his options before he commits, but he or anyone else shouldn't get upset for UT moving on thats what negotiation is, He (King) should have or an adult found out how long the offer stood or what was the deadline for him to get back with UT. I personally Hate that could looked like a total dufus."Obviously not the situation?" Now you are calling the kid a liar too?
So the sketchy details we have go something like this:
Vols made what was apparently a commitable offer.
The kid would not commit. He wanted to look around.
The Vols continued to recruit other guys and apparently found someone who they liked better or who was willing to give them a commit.
King for whatever reason decides he needs to go ahead and commit. Maybe he was worried that his window of opportunity was closing?
Either he only told some friends or as others have said he announced it at an assembly... he apparently told someone he had committed.
When he actually tried to tell the staff (which should have been the first thing, not the last thing), he was told he waited too long.
And you are in such a hurry to blame the staff that you can't accept that this is the nature of recruiting... right?
