I would hate to think we cant pull this kid from our own back yard. Seems like he wants to be a Vol....but also wants to play the recruiting "game". Cant really blame....I wouldnt pass up free trips to college campuses either.

the past few yrs at the combine, Trindon Holliday, Jacoby Ford, CJ Spiller, Chris Johnson, Jahvid Best, Jonathan Wade, and Taylor Mays were all track stars and they all were sub 4.4 guys

seeing how King is also a superior 100m sprinter him running a sub 4.4 forty shouldnt seem so far fetched

True, but you got to admit that most of these 40 times are false.

No, it's pretty far fetched. Look at all of the guys you mentioned above and their 100m times compared to the 10.7 of King. (Holliday, Ford and Spiller are in the 10.0 to 10.4 range)

I don't put much stock into the times...my point was just that they are so exaggerated. I have no doubt this guy is fast enough.

Per Scout...

He just picked up a Vandy offer. Honestly, I can't see UGA, Bama, or Aubun offering him considering all the DB talent they have in-state. He should be the Vols' to lose.

That's what I like to hear. I plan on going to a few of this cats games this year IF he commits to TN. Glad we are on top.

"I got the Auburn offer Wednesday," said King. "It felt great. Just to know that another SEC, an SEC school like Auburn, wants me to go there is great. Auburn plays great football.

"I have to put Auburn up in my top group. I like the school. I've been there. I like the environment. I like the coaches."

"I really like what Coach Chizik had to say to me about Auburn, about what Auburn is all about," said King. "I really liked that. I like the entire staff.

"I like Coach Lolley. He's a great guy. He seems real cool and would be my position coach. I could see myself working with Coach Lolley in the future."

"It was a big offer, real cool," said King, Jr. "I found out early that morning so it woke me up, got me going. The tradition there seems cool. It was a blessing to get another SEC school.

"I was also excited to get an offer from the Rebels knowing that my dad went there. That will definitely come into consideration when picking a college. Going to the same school my dad went to is something I've always thought about."

If you havent realized this yet, most D1 football prospects are determined to leave the state. Tennessee does a terrible job of retaining top notch talent in the state. See Golden Tate, Patrick Turner, Donte HighTower, etc. Lets hope Derek Dooley can do a better job.

King has already taken in junior days at Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. He hasn't made too many visits recently while honing his speed on the track but has a few coming up at Ole Miss, Auburn and Tennessee.

"I'd say just the SEC schools right now are sticking out," he said. "Playing SEC football, that's the thing I've always wanted to do. Really, all the SEC schools are sticking out."

Per Rivals...

He was here for Junior Day and is visiting Knoxville again soon. I hope he's in town this weekend.

I dont see him being a 4-star. I'd say solid 3-star. Either 5.6 or 5.7...

I thought Eric Gordon had quite a bit more physicality and swagger to him coming out of high school. JMO.

More like 5.7

Dude seems to have elite speed, quickness and vision though...but what's the real difference between a 5.7 and a 5.8 anyway

He was at the same combine my neighbor was at in Nashville this past weekend. Apparently he was by far the best DB there, maybe even player.
