'11 TN DB Derek King

Yes, King will be here on Friday. Commitment seems unlikely but not impossible, ND turning up heat on their recruitment of King.

I can't see King committing. Word from Carlos is that UT is probably in 3rd behind Ole Miss and Auburn. His dad played at Ole Miss and Brentwood is some sort of Auburn pipeline. Hopefully, that's changed.

That is so disappointing. Derek King would be a great pick up for this class and he is also an instate prospect. It is hard to see these Tennessee guys leave the state.

Ahh, you would be complaining if he committed to UT tomorrow cuz he is a 5.5 3star.

I would say that King isn't a need at this point but I can't name 3 other CB's we are legitimitly after.

:whistling: exactly

I def wanna know the difference between accepting his commit and accepting a commit from T. Campbell.

Not too worried about whether they get King or not. If he wasn't an in-state player I highly doubt he'd have an offer.

Brentwood Academy WAS a big time Auburn pipeline at one point. Not as much anymore. Last major prospect was Chris Jordan and he went to Bama.

Actually you are wrong sir. Derek King is actually legit prospect and would be a welcomed addition to UT's 2011 class. Unlike A. Anderson I mean Art Evans I mean T. Campbell out of the SunShine State.

Offer lists don't lie. Track speed doesn't hurt either, look how Trindon Holliday helped out LSU's special teams.

Special Teams??? What's that??? Been so long since I've actually seen Special Teams, forgot what they are. Oh wait, I remember, they're those units from the opposing teams that manage a huge play against us at a most critical point in the game.

But I'm not worried because Fulmer promised he is going to make Special Teams an emphasis and they'll improve.

Ha...wha...Fulmer's gone???

I know King is one of the best in the state, but is he UT track caliber? I'd love to get him as a corner in this class. BA is a great school to get into.

Only one problem with that -- he is a highly rated in-state player. Given that he is a very good player who is also in-state, I think we need to go after him.

Cody Robinson is another who I believe that we need to go after for similar reasons -- not only is he in-state and a legacy, but he is very quick for his size, very big, and plays with a mean streak that I like to see on the line. He could also play DT if we get overloaded with OL commits.

Not to mention that his blood is orange, just like mine.

I think being an in-state player is taken way overboard. We don't need to risk our chances at other better players to take an in-state player. Not saying this at King specifically, just ranting.

Disagree, locking down your own borders is HUGE in the message it sends out to other recruits.. if the guys in your own state don't want to play for you whey should they leave their state. The top schools are in talent rich states and their empahisis is on this. TN may not have huge numbers like Florida, but you have to get these top guys.

I agree that the top talent in your state should be a top priority but taking a lower tier guy over a better prospect just because of where they live doesn't make much sense to me.
