'11 TN QB Mike Wegzyn

If this^ is true then why move to TN from Michigan if Notre Dame is where you wanna go? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless it was something like his parents had a job transfer or something.

His Dad got a job in Knoxville last summer according to Rivals article. The move was to reunite the family. He said it was hard to leave at this point in his high school career. He hopes to earn the starting spot at KCHS. Their QB was a senior last year and the next best QB is in 8th grade.

I'm not going to say this guy is a MUST get for Dooley because were probably only going to take 1 QB next year & if thats the case I think the staff will go after a few better prospects but it wouldnt hurt at all to recruit our tails off for this kid incase we lose out on our top choices.

Kid was a big deal in Detroit to. This was news on Detroit Sports. The Big-10 schools are chasing this kid and that is where he grew up. TN may not have a shot with him.

"Wegzyn Moves South
Northville's 6-foot-5 QB Mike Wegzyn transferred to Knoxville Catholic Central down in Tennessee. Wegzyn was one of the top 2011 QB prospects in Michigan before he left. Wegzyn is definitely an early offer QB and has already started to pick up a ton of interest this winter. Check out Mike's article here on Michigan Preps."

His brother is a walk-on at UT. If we offer, I would think we at least have a chance to get him.

Apologize if not right forum and/or already been addressed, but check out the transfer to Knoxville Catholic - Mike Wegzyn. He's listed at 6'5" 220 QB. Has a cannon for arm. Class of 2011. Somebody get CDD on him. Can't lose these guys from our backyard. Has listed UT as interest on Rivals.com along with Auburn, Oklahoma and Michigan St. Youtube has a few videos and the kid can play.

Wow!!! This kid looks real good. He has a great arm. His accuracy needs a little work but his arm strentgh is great. Great size and weight. I also liked his attitude. The video shows him running over a defender during one of his games and that shows me that he is fearless. He will be a great quaterback. It lists his favorite universities and I don't know how it is ranked but we are at the top. I watched his highlight video then I watched Matt Sims video and I was more impressed by Mike's-much stronger arm. I am just an emergencyroom physician, no professional highschool football evaluator but this guy appears to have it all when it comes to a college football qb. Good Luck UT, I hope we get him if he is the guy we want..

Strong arm, good height. Can't tell a thing about his accuracy from the vid. Be nice if we had one or two guys that we didn't have to hop a plane to recruit. This guy, the long kid, redden. Looks like we have some d1 talent at need positions in state this year.

Fantastic arm strength, really good size, linebacker mentality, good mobility...wow. All he needs is to work on his feet and squaring himself and he'll be incredible. Most of his throws are coming from arm strength alone...and still, wow..

Must not have seen the same video. A few throws were somewhat off target in the video that I saw. Other aspects were all great. Promising future.

How is it going to be recruiting this guy right after we signed Tyler Bray and Nash Nance??

Just not enough of a sampling to eval accuracy, but yeah, looks like there is some work to be done.

"My coaches have always told me that I had good field vision," Wegzyn said. "They were telling me that when I was younger; playing both soccer and football. I don't get rattled easy and I strive to remain stoic. I throw the deep ball well, but I've learned that isn't always the most important throw. It's the throw to get the first down."

"I'm looking for a school academically that can fulfill my dream of becoming a physical therapist," Wegzyn said. "Athletically, I want to find the right fit for me to become the best player I can become. I just want to find a good program. It's not about the coach. They come and go."

Wegzyn's older brother Matt is a preferred walk-on tight end at Tennessee.

If his father wanted to reunite the family as a previous poster implied, his family will probably want him to stay close to home, as in UT

Hey, I follow high school recruits and never heard of Mike Wegzyn, so I did some research and found that he was not his school's starting QB at start of season, started about half of games during season and didn't even start team's 1 playoff game. Go to Northville Mustangs and you can see his underwhelming stats for yourself as he threw about 40% for season against very poor competition. That is probably why he has no stars - he's not worthy of a rating. I don't know this kid, but I would not be surprised if he or someone close to him started this thread. Think about it, how else does all this get started for a kid enrolled in school here for less than 2 weeks?!

ILoveUT is a Wezyn family member trying to create fake hype. The Michigan Prep articles are written by a recruiting web site where the player and family pay the site for "recruiting services." If you read the articles, you will notice they are very general, and general for a reason - no respectable D1 school is going to recruit this kid - stats don't lie. Also, I noticed his YouTube videos were placed on site by George yarberry of Michigan Preps. I'm sure for the right price, my dog could be a legitimate D1 recruit.

Not seeing where ILoveUT is overhyping the kid, any more than just saying we should get him because he is in TN. His workout video was more impressive than his game videos. I never saw him take a snap under center, and he didn't seem to stay in the pocket very long. He also short-armed a decent amount of the passes, just flicking them out instead of planting his feet and driving the ball in there. I would have liked to see more than 1 long ball thrown too, I think I saw a dozen 10-yard hook routes to the left side.
Overall he looks like a decent prospect.

Wegzyn's complete passing stats last year: 63-141-746 yards (44.7%), 5 TDs & 8 INT for a pass efficiency rating of 89.5.

Northville's other QB was 18-42-305 yards (42.8%), 1 TD & 3 INTs for a pass eff. rating of 97.4.

If the staff sees that Bray is going to be a player either in 2010 or '11 and that Simms/Nance is a decent backup, I don't know if they'll take a QB in this class unless they feel that guy could beat out everyone else.

No hype here. I want to see what the kid has this spring. You sound like you must be the QB who lost his starting job to Wezyn back in Michigan.

He's friends with Renaldo Woolridge, aka Swiperboy who was talking about his buddy on Twitter a couple of weeks ago and posting videos and saying Dooley should get him...it sounds like the kid wants to be a Vol as well.
The videos make him look good.
