12/1 AP POLL - UT #6

Right, either way I think that is who we play

The path for us getting the 6 seed is pretty remote. I don’t think we play Arizona State. Our ceiling is likely the 7 seed. And I don’t see Arizona State getting to 10 unless UNLV beats Boise.

2 of the teams ahead of us will have 1 more loss....
We won’t play AZ State. They’ll seed them accordingly to play a more western team. The Vols will end up playing Ohio State, ND, Indy, Penn, or an SEC team first round. Take that to the bank.

SO…….Clemson beats SMU in the ACC Champ, gets an automatic in, and essentially kicks South Carolina OUT? Is that what I’m smelling?
That would be awesome, SC playing great football down the stretch and then gets bumped by their rival that they beat.

I don't have a dog in that fight but that's the kind of stuff that makes college football so great.

Last week had OSU going to Arizona State. We are not that much further east than Columbus.

Ole Miss did it to themselves. They lost to Kentucky at home. Carolina’s only other losses were to the refs vs LSU and two points to Alabama on the road. Whenever you give a conference opponent their only win of the season then you lose all credibility.
They lost to Kentucky before they pasted USCjr. They've been ranked ahead of junior every week since then. Suddenly the voters have an epiphany this week and decide Junior is now suddenly better than Ole Miss. Nope, just a bunch of brain dead voters suddenly handed a new agenda to follow.

Nah. Ole Miss drug a mudhole in them on their own home field. That trumps anything else when picking between two equal record teams. Ole Miss's best win over Georgia is also magnitudes better than South Carolinas vs a team Georgia beat 35-3.

The OSU argument on X is they have 2 top 19 wins and a road loss at #1 by one point.

That holds water IF one thinks PSU and IU are truly top 10 teams. Neither team has a good win and have only 1 loss solely due to their soft schedule.

Vanderbilt and Florida are better wins than anything Hoosiers or PSU have.

I’m glad the pollsters reduced Buckeyes like they would any other team in similar situation. IU current ranking kept OSU from dropping 1 or 2 more spots due to head to head. Which is why UT did not pass UGA

That’s not how it works though. Ranking and seeding aren’t the same thing. Besides, once the conference championships games are played, this will look a lot different.
Oh! I know! I was just looking at what they have thus far. I’m like you, I don’t think it’ll stay this way.

That wasn’t going to ever happen, either. It’s speculation, even today. It was meaningless speculation a week ago.

So, the coaches poll and the ap has Bama coming to Knoxville. Now, we wait for the playoff poll.
Are you that stupid or just looking for attention? I would say you are looking for attention. I will bite. In what CFP format does a 8 seed in the CFP host a 12 seed??? It is the 9 seed at the 8 seed in the bracket!

They just beat Clemson on the road while Ole Miss lost to a similarly talented Florida team on the road. Ole Miss also played the easiest or 2nd easiest SEC schedule in the conference. Voters have started to care less and less about head to head over the years and instead look at your entire résumé. That Kentucky loss and Georgia win are essentially a wash. South Carolina didn’t lose to a bad team. That’s just how they look at it.

Miami and Bama should switch spots. This is laughable. Bama gets blown out by a .500 team to get their 3rd loss and they’re still sitting there….unreal.
Miami has nothing to hang their hat on. Their best wins are Duke, Louisville, and UF. Plus the gifted win against Va Tech.
