I know Newberg, from ESPN, really liked him, and the AJC said he was the most underrated player in the Atlanta area.

He appears to be an upper tier athlete. As a football player I see a ton of wasted motion, false steps, feet shuffling and he even hops as he is locating the ball. But he runs well once he finds it. After he gets some coaching he should contribute. He seems raw and a better athlete than his competition. The polar oposite of a guy like probst.

Good objective analysis. I do like his instincts, the tackling needs improvement, no doubt but it doesn't bother me as much as the athleticism as that can be worked on.

He looks a lot like what they already have on campus, at least to me. Smart, heady guy but looks to me like an average athlete for an SEC linebacker. Tennessee just needs to get better athletes period. And LB is the most glaring need for that. Hopefully they can coach him up and have some success.

I just hope this isn't a sign they aren't feeling too good about some of the big-time LB's they have on the board and seemed to be at least in decent shape with.

Did you? He's an average athlete with great football instincts...very poor tackler and lacks great technique. I just watched the film a 2nd time and I don't think he scrapes down very well. He knows where he needs to be, but can't quite get himself there quick enough. Those +3 tackles he's making should be blown up for no gain or -1.

#18 OLB:

Henderson is an excellent athlete; is productive as a linebacker and slot receiver/running back. Although we see potential on the offensive side of the ball we feel his size and athleticism are better suited for the outside linebacker position at the major level of competition. Will need to add bulk and improve his playing strength; it appears these are doable goals which can be attained. His tough wrap tackling skill indicates very good potential as a special team's coverage defender; shows the timing and burst necessary to block FG/PAT's and punts. Demonstrates the alignment flexibility necessary to create havoc from both on and off the line of scrimmage; has the flexibility, balance and agility to play in space, moving through traffic and dropping into underneath coverage. Does a very good job getting a jump on plays, both run and pass; displays the key and diagnosis reaction skills which get him to the ball quickly. Flashes downhill and stack ability against the inside run; can take on and defeat blockers at the point of attack but improved size and playing strength will only allow him to be even more physical. Moves through traffic well demonstrating very good playing speed from sideline to sideline; is tough to get a hat on and very capable of creating havoc in the opponent's backfield. We see very good potential as a zone and man coverage defender. Has the foot quickness and hips to make tight turns; does a good job getting depth with route awareness and eyes on the quarterback, allowing him to get into throwing lanes. Demonstrates very good ball skills which are a carryover from offense; adjusts very well to the high, out of the frame throw. Can move on and off the line with good blitz anticipation; throws off timing while displaying a good closing burst to the quarterback. This guy is a tough customer who is capable of making game changing plays from any spot on the field. Although Henderson does not appear to be an immediate impact starter we see the potential to earn early situational playing time and special team's duty if a red shirt year isn't deemed necessary.

Hmmmmmm.....somebody's wrong...

I think I'll go with the paid experts at ESPN and on our coaching staff on this one

Cant' be!! Dooley cant evaluate talent or recruit

Henderson will end up a 5.7 3* on Rivals.

These coaches know what they are doing. When some of you bufoons realize that, the sooner you will stop looking like horses asses.

I mean that with love

+1..I will trust our staff over any recruiting service or any poster that claims to know all there is to know about every player. I 100% trust in our staff. Especially after taking Propst, just one example.Who knew he would end up a freshman AA. He did play for a great HS and was well coached at Hoover. They are a system Offense, so taking offensive players I would be a little scared of but defense is a different story. Outside of Chad Jackson they havent produced a whole lot with college players, esp on offense.I think Propst will continue to develop and be a great leader for our D.

surprising for how bad the kids offer list looks

Its july...and teams have scholly limits now, so they have to be a little more careful about throwing out offers, especially this early

ESPN has some of the best talent evaluators, but they are terrible when it comes to actually getting and seeing all the prospects and evaluating them. How in the world did Cameron Clear not get evaluated last year? And the same goes for a bunch of prospects. ESPN needs to realize that they could benefit the most with 247 stealing the Rivals guys, and put more resources into getting to see all of the prospects.

Hoover players are hardly ever really good except for the linemen. They are coached great and they play disciplined football out there. And they get a lot of calls. Now Propst as a Freshman AA means absolutely nothing to me. He didn't have a huge impact on our defense. Until he produces full time then I won't pass any judgement.

ESPN has much better evaluators than Rivals does. They are probably one of the best at it. Rivals is probbaly the worst.

So you agree that Zach Fulton is a 2-star talent and that there were 22 DEs better than Jacques Smith in the 2010 class.

2 examples... well done. You do know that people can give you this same argument for ESPN.

The old Rivals was supreme, but I have no faith in the current Rivals' staff. ESPN and 247 are the two most reliable services in my opinion.

Concur. Current Rivals and Scout evals are clueless.
