'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

SOLID!
6'1" 220lbs 4.53 40---great addition to the Vols RB Corp.

Congrats to Imani AND CDD & Staff! Welcome Imani!

Very nice p/u!
Physical, hard-nosed RB---elusive, w/ good size (6'1" 220), and speed (4.52 40). Great hands = pass threat.
Welcome Imani Cross!

What? A 4.53? That's way too slow. We need atleast a 4.30 back... IMO TIFWIW.
Edit: Yes, sarcasm was intended on this post for those of you who lost your detector in the rain today

Shows a lot of improvement between sophomore and junior years, even after coming back from injury. I'm sure it also helped that he switched high schools and went from a spread to a power running game.

Junior: YouTube - Imani Cross

Surprisingly elusive and quick for someone his size.

Exactly, an RB of this stature, speed, and athleticism---6'1" 220 4.53 40---Tennessee has long been in need. Great addition to Lane, Neal, Smith, & Williams.
Plus, Keith Marshall has expressed increased interest in Tennessee.
The 2012 class could really become something special!!!

I think he's very good in the screen game too. Can you imagine a two back shotgun set with: Cross and Lane at RB, Hunter, Rogers, and whoever at the slot. The threat of the screen and the down field threats would put a lot of stress on a defense. Because Cross can be a legit blocking force in the run game at times.

Imagination is now reality.

Kimbrow needs a back like this to run off of. Then you have Tom Smith and Marlin Lane. This will be a very hard nosed running game. Neal better get it together or he'll get passed. We will be looking to land one more RB too outside of Kimbrow and Cross. Dooley is building this team somewhat like the LSU teams looked under Saban.

Agreed. K Marshall recently expressed an increased interest in Tennessee.

Call it a gut feelin'...nothing official. From the info I received, I understand that AL leads BUT OSU (for obvious reasons) is a close second, others schools are a distant 3rd, 4th, etc.
Barry S. Jr. really liked his visit, the coaches and what Saban has accomplished at both LSU and Alabama...player development.
That's all I got, and we all know how things change but, IMO, BS Jr is Tuscaloosa bound.

His whole family had a great visit from the pictures that have been shown. Looks like a leader for his talents.

Cross is a good back but I still like Marshall better than the rest. My opinion may change in the fall.

With Cross' commit, we may land both...K Marshall recently expressed an increased interest in the Vols.

Exactly. If he is such a done deal to Bama, why was he at OK State's basketball game the other night, with OSU players, his father, the coach recruiting him all while wearing his father's OSU letterman jacket?

He is staying home and going to OSU. Saban can't land the big RB fish. He missed on Crowell last year, he will Sanders this year. He won't land Shell (PSU/OSU), Marshall (UGA), or Gray (TT, TU, OU) either. His Lucky Charms don't work on that position.

Congrats on the Cross pickup, great looking RB.

That's simply not true and a ridiculous comment.

That's a lot to deal with for any defense. I'd like to see what Vincent Dallas would do in the slot with the other two guys. His speed will really complement the outside guys.

When was the last time we had a guy with some TRUE wiggle in the slot? Not trying to be funny. Just asking. In recent years, we've had several vertical threats but I honestly can't remember the last time we had an elusive guy in the slot.

A lot of people will say G.Jones but he's not good at that. Dallas should be that guy. Even Dooley said he's got some wiggle to him. I think he's the dark horse for that slot spot. He only trails Arnett in the route running department. Maybe the hands to an extent but Dallas has good hands. And he's faster. Going to be a war for that spot in the slot.

Yeah... G. Jones was not it. Had no wiggle. He got open but had no wiggle. Hopefully, Arnett or Dallas provides the spark we need.

Trent Richardson, that is it. Ingram was a 3* and Lacy was overrated as a 4*. 5* is "big fish", other than TR, where is it?

Really, I was just trash talking at Bama a little, but I should have qualified the statement so some of you guys didn't go off the deep end. Saban is typically barely involved in these guys recruitments anyway, really just Trent before Barry, so you could even go the other way and say that Bama can't land the big fish RB without Saban getting involved. Regardless, Sanders will still be a Cowboy next year.

Also, did you mean like this following comment? At least I was just talking some smack and not spreading wrong info.

Marshall will most likely end up at UGA, even with Crowell, unless Richt is gone. Even if he doesn't, he won't be in Knoxville, I'm positive of that. He simply got an offer from UT, but there is no indication of "increased interest", unless you mean going from no interest to "they exist", or even any real interest in the Vols from him at all.

Ingram was a 3star on scout but he was a 4star and in the top 200 on Rivals FWIW

He was and in hindsight it seems that Rivals had the more accurate rating though I didn't agree with it then. At the time I payed much more attention to Scout...and still do in situations involving Bama commits, if you follow my meaning.

I sent an email to Rivals Recruiting today to request making the Tennessee page accurate and get rid of the names that were showing up on our list. They actually fixed it today and Imani Cross now shows as our first commit.

I doubt it was my email (probably many others), but it's good to have it correct now.

GO VOLS!!

Rivals had us all messed up, and that's not good! Thanks.

I never called him a RB. Just said that everyone had the same expectations about his speed. He was irrelevant at WR so he could just as well had QB behind his name.

was deep into its prolonged period of suxatude, we actually tried to a throw a fade pass to Scott in the end zone against Miami in Knoxville. I think it might have been a fourth-down pass. Trying to throw a fade to short WR with poor hands who didn't play much was so stupid I had to laugh. I knew we were in trouble at that moment. We lost the game....
