'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

We don't have room to play this year. If we start taking 3* and 4* RBs now, that means we don't have a hope for any of the 5* RBs everyone here has been wanting. If we are going to offer guys like that now I say take the instate kids. JMO

Cross is better then every instate RB not named Brian Kimbrow.

I'm just not that big on getting Kimbrow. I know a lot of people are having man love for the guy, but his film is average at best. I guess I need to see him play live to appreciate him.

Someone refresh my memory on the kid we got some years back from Louisiana that was supposed to be the all world speed guy that we always wanted at Tennessee; He was about 5'9" 165 pounds with world class speed. He was so great I don't remember his name.

Which instate guy is better?

In state prospect with his offer sheet.... No way in hell you don't make him your number one priority.

I'm thinking high 3*, low-to-mid 4* if he fully comes back from the injury.

I agree.

I'm not saying this guy isn't good. In most years I would be leading the way like I did with R Neal. I'm basing my opinion on what I have been reading about the number crunch. From what I can tell we only have about 20 to give this year. We can't take every 3* (again not saying Cross is a 3*) kid like we did last year. I'm hoping for a 5* caliber kid.

Are we sure we're not on him as a LB? I'd like to see a defensive highlight package to compare, but it sure looks like he's a LB playing RB. I'll defer to the coaching staff for player evaluation, but he just doesn't jump off the film to me? I think he looks way better in space with the screen plays.

Now for the million dollar question - with limited scholarship numbers next season do we take him now if he wants to pull the trigger? I'm as anxious to get the first 2012 committ as the next guy, but with VFL being a big selling point and coaches fully committed to our verbals I want to be sure we're getting the most elite talent we possibly can.

We will sign 25 this year. I'm not seeing a numbers crunch.

That depends on how many transfer, graduate and are asked to leave. Total roster numbers will come into play if 13 or more players don't leave.

I'm happy that we lead for Cross, but is he better or worse than Kenno Loyal who is also said to be a vol lean

I would take Cross hands down. Nothing against Loyal, but Cross is bigger, faster, and stronger and seems to have pretty good hands. I seriously doubt a guy like that is looking to play linebacker or fullback at the next level. He could be really solid if he stays healthy. I agree with the Blount comparisons, also looks runs like a slightly bigger, faster Stevan Ridley. He would be physically ready to play as a freshman for our '12 run. We are going to have a helluva stable of running backs in a couple years.

Didn't relize this before, but Cross is on 247sports future247 which most likely means he starts off as a 4 star prospect on 247 when they release their next rankings. Of all the 5 stars they gave out initially, none were to rbs that I can find.

Dooley will oversign just like any other coach in the nation.
