'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

Yes. But it's already happened - bullock will be walking on.

There could be more.

Things will work out over the next few weeks.

Best of lick to the kid. Hope all was truly amicable in the break-up.

OCI - did everything go down pretty well? Mainly concern with neg reps coaches get with the HS coaches when things like this go have to happen.

Blanc will not be next. Staff really likes Blanc.

As far as Cross goes, this is the nature of recruiting - and when you are trying to fill up with EE's things like this will happen.

It was a good move by the staff and it was the stand up thing to do.

I understand it was a good football move but why was it the stand up thing to do?

Because you give the kid time to find another school - take visits, open up the process again.

The coaches could have told him in Feb. Trust me, it happens.

I don't think anyone with inside info would ever give names of people who could be asked to look around. I think they would respect the recruits and coaches enough to let them settle it first hand without finding out on a MB.

Maybe cause they saw another Pat Martin situation happening?

I have no problem with this happening. Its strictly part of the business and what coaches have to do to make the numbers work, but it no way can you spin it and say its admirable. I am not sure what you are saying about being another PMartin.

Not a whole lot has been said, but I think Pat did not look as good on the field as we hoped. His senior season also was not as good as his junior. Add this to rumors that he was wanting playing time when he clearly wasn't ready for it, and you have a :gone:

Not surprised by this. After how many times he changed his mind , I never thought he would end up at Tennessee. Players change their mind , I don't see why coaches can't. At least they gave him time to find another school and didn't tell him they didn't want him on signing day.

It wasn't going to be good situation for him or UT. That is what I meant. They obviously feel that he would not get PT after evaluating him a bit more. Didn't need 2 of his type and Hill is a EE. Better for him to go somwhere he can play. I just think they would have done the same with Martin last year if they could do it over again. His senior season was also telling.

Are you 100% certain about this? If so, then it makes sense with all of our needs...

I believe you that Blanc won't be asked but I don't understand it....he seems like a MTSU kind of player to me and I can't believe we'd tirn away a Trae Elston or Jordan Diggs for him

According to the "VolNation Dictionary", any kid who decommits, for whatever reason: (1) did not decide he wanted to go elsewhere, he was discarded by the coaching staff, (2) would not be a good fit, (3) is not nearly as good as he previously led us to believe, and (4) is a bad person. You are correct in your assertion that those inside the athletic department would not provide this kind of information on a message board or anywhere else. We have some poseurs on here who let their orange-colored glasses outweigh any respect they may have for the truth and/or for the dignity of a high school senior.

Camped at UT at least 3 times last summer and was in the top-tier of performers every time. The staff really wasn't looking to offer but he made it almost impossible for them not to.

He's raw but, like I said, it's about what you see down the road with him.

I don't think Dooley has that luxury

The staff is upgrading the talent on the team. Since the number of takes is limited, it is a good sign that a pretty good back like Cross was asked to look elsewhere (if he was in fact). Blanc and others may be asked to look around, but evidently they saw something in camp about him they liked. If we can get more big uglies and burners knocking on our door, I say make all of the moves necessary as diplomatically as possible to get them.

OCI just said in the Davis thread the staff was trying and was confident of getting a premier back.

1 in hand is better than 2 in the bush though... I wonder if they know something we don't???

2 in the hand makes it harder to shake the bushes? We had a ton of RB commits this class.

I find it hilarious people get upset over things like this. Oh noes, we are bettering our program.

I have no problem with the staff doing this. It's part of the business and necessary. What I have a problem is that some of you think the staff is exempt from the "dirty" part of recruiting and spin this to say this was somehow admirable.
