'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

I have stated that I am glad the staff did this. My shot is that some of you guys claim this isn't a dirty part of the business when that is exactly what it is. Necessary but dirty!

you need to find a better werd than "dirty"....

I liked Cross's physicality.

I think Wisconsin would be a great spot for him to land.

Good Luck to Cross in his future endeavors

+1. He always comes off as a great kid in his interviews. Best of luck to him.

What a joke. This is exactly why I have the Blanc thread ignored -- so I don't have to read the garbage like this that I know is being spewed constantly in there.

Star gazers are entitled an opinion, I guess. Sadly.

I just wonder why you like him so much? I am neutral on him, because guys that project at other positions like that are hard to figure out for coaches, so I have no shot at knowing lol. ( or is it you just don't like when people "star gaze)

Camped at UT at least 3 times last summer and was in the top-tier of performers every time. The staff really wasn't looking to offer but he made it almost impossible for them not to.

He's raw but, like I said, it's about what you see down the road with him.

Nm my question, I see you answered it here pretty well.:hi:

No one likes to see kids cut loose, but riddle me this, with the way we closed last year, who would you have traded for Andrew Power and Juda Parker?

Sorry Marcus Jackson?
Sorry, Byron Moore?
Sorry, Curt Maggitt?

It ain't always pretty, but the same ones griping are the same ones who will call for Dooley's head for not winning because we don't have the talent.

I tried to find Power's profile. Who did he end up signing with? Apparently Juda played a little (109 snaps) sparingly his freshman year. 6'3" 250lbs. Juda bulked up, that's a huge linebacker!

The way I see it, we finishes extraordinarily well last year. But there were guys who were given the chance to come here if they met some expectations. Looks like they didn't reach those expectations. When those two were released there was no guarantee that folks like Jackson, Moore, and Maggitt were ever coming here.

I was in here last week complaining about how Cross got jobbed with his fourth star. No real reason he doesn't have it, just Rivals folks just thinking that way. But it's clear, now, that the staff wanted to go in another direction, and go after the opportunity to find another player they evaluated as better. This, while they let this guy find another home as quickly as possible.

Cross is gonna be a good player, for somebody. I just think that the staff thinks it has a chance with better players elsewhere. Goes contrary to "one in the hand is worth two in the bush", but that's where we're at.

What I'm getting at is that this is not a Power/Parker situation. This is the Cross situation. I do think we're going after bigger fish, but we're also going after different, similarly-sized seafood (if you can follow the analogy). We have limited spaces, and Cross was duplicated. He's not bad, it's just we have other holes to fill.

I think Juda will be a pretty good player, but a few things made his recruitment interesting.

1. Offered at a non-UT camp, and committed on the spot. Who knows if Dooley was even aware that Chuck offered? After what we have seen from Chuck Smith post-dismissal, he seems like a loose cannon.

2. Did not play 11 on 11 football in HS. Apparently in Hawaii they use less players because of lack of players, thus...

3. Questionable competition. He was a big and talented player. He can look like a superstar going against 180 pound offensive linemen.

4. PAC-10 risk. If his recruitment began to blow up, the Pac 10 schools would be all over him, and have a fairly good shot at turning him.

5. He never visited campus, and that is an expensive OV. High % he would have turned because of this.

6. We took Jordan Williams with his spot. Most agree that Williams will be a very good player for us.

Just a guess but I would think that Graham was asked about UT's RB commits before he was announced as the new RB coach. If he had wanted Cross then it is likely Cross would still be a commit.

He was cross' recruiter at sc.

That is interesting too since Cross said that a factor in his de-commit was being told that the new RB coach would re-evaluate his offer. I am pretty sure Graham and UT had to have been pretty close to a deal when he de-commited.

Supposedly it was mutual. TN told him that the new RB coach would have to evaluate him further and make a decision. He didn't like that so he decided we should part ways. Well that's what he has been quoted as saying.

JMO, but I don't see how he liked the fact that UT is trying desperately to get a top RB in this class either. That may have been a factor in his final decision to move forward with his recruitment. As long as the staff made it clear to him, I'm fine with it all.
