No one likes to see kids cut loose, but riddle me this, with the way we closed last year, who would you have traded for Andrew Power and Juda Parker?
Sorry Marcus Jackson?
Sorry, Byron Moore?
Sorry, Curt Maggitt?
It ain't always pretty, but the same ones griping are the same ones who will call for Dooley's head for not winning because we don't have the talent.
The way I see it, we finishes extraordinarily well last year. But there were guys who were given the chance to come here if they met some expectations. Looks like they didn't reach those expectations. When those two were released there was no guarantee that folks like Jackson, Moore, and Maggitt were ever coming here.
I was in here last week complaining about how Cross got jobbed with his fourth star. No real reason he doesn't have it, just Rivals folks just thinking that way. But it's clear, now, that the staff wanted to go in another direction, and go after the opportunity to find another player they evaluated as better. This, while they let this guy find another home as quickly as possible.
Cross is gonna be a good player, for somebody. I just think that the staff thinks it has a chance with better players elsewhere. Goes contrary to "one in the hand is worth two in the bush", but that's where we're at.
What I'm getting at is that this is not a Power/Parker situation. This is the Cross situation. I
do think we're going after bigger fish, but we're also going after different, similarly-sized seafood (if you can follow the analogy). We have limited spaces, and Cross was duplicated. He's not bad, it's just we have other holes to fill.
