'12 GA WR Charlie Hegedus

I honestly think this will be one that will be a regret. He is working out twice a day over winter break to get stronger and faster. He's smart, will stay out of trouble and has no "prima donna" attitude. He is determined to be the best at his position. Look at his senior year highlight video. On a kickoff to Walton (during the state semi final game) he ran across the field and prevented a TD from the state's #1 player, 2013 RB Tyren Jones. And the one handed catch he made on the video mentioned above is unbelievable. I may be prejudiced because I know him, but I am a realist when it comes to his ability. He has it. And obviously, the state's coaches feel the same way. I am looking forward to saying "I told you so" in the coming years.

With that said, I hope it all gets better for UT and the committed receivers live up to the hype.

Im gonna take a stab in the dark here. You are Charlie or a family member. Am i right???

Vol555 is a friend of Charlie's family who has known him since he was a baby. Her daughter knows Charlie and went to the HS he goes to. To my knowledge, Charlie and his family have never posted on this board or any other.

I've tried to keep people informed about this fine young man, but it seems obvious that people aren't interested. Look for him in our next game. NC State in the Ga Dome. Or, playing for the Dawgs against us for 4 years. I'll stop posting about him, because it seems it's not appreciated. Here is the link to the Georgia All State selections.
AAAAA all-state: Walton’s Jones, McEachern’s English are players of year | Prep Zone: High School Sports

Hegedus and Blake Tibbs committed to UGA) were the first team selections. Croom and Redding didn't even make honorable mention. So obviously the knowledgeable people on this board know more about talent than the High School Coaches in Georgia.

High school superlatives do not equal better potential at the next level.

It's really not that hard to figure out.

And it pretty obvious that volnation posters aren't the only ones who think so

OK, one last post before I give up in disgust. The kid won his region in track...he is obviously fast. He has a 37" vertical leap...at 6-2 with that leap, he reaches higher than anybody we have. At 200lb and growing, he has good size and strength. He is a clutch player, making tremendous catches to lead his team in great success in the playoff's. He had over 1100 yards of receptions, so he walked the walk instead of just being "potential". He has character and is a very hard worker. He has very good grades. As indicated by being first team all state, his talent is held in high regard. What is it exactly that indicates he won't be successful at the next level?

Nevermind,

merry Christmas to you and your family and good luck in the future

I4Jay, Coaches have a tough time picking winners. There are many variables that lead to success. In my time I have played with and watched a lot of talent crash and burn. I have watched a lot of guys without great talent find a way to win. Some guys practice great and die under pressure, some guys practice poorly and play well. The intangible thing that leads to these inconsistency's is what I would boil down to "Heart". Heart is a very very tough thing to evaluate. Indicators are success under pressure such as a HS playoff game, what his peers think of him and what people that know him think of him. You can watch all the highlight films you want, look at stats...etc and you won't be evaluating "Heart". My posting on this board have been an effort to convey one central message. This kid has heart.

I do not understand why Tennessee wastes so much time recruiting kids like Patterson, who I know is a great talent, but one who has not kept up with his end of the deal academically and passes on someone like this kid who has the measureables and wants to be a VOL. IMO we need more kids who want to be here as opposed to kids who like to hear their names on the radio or TV.

Because Patterson is elite and it's the coaches job to field a team with the best possible talent, otherwise they will be out of work.

Well, Oklahoma State has one of, if not the best, passing offenses in the country. So it has to make Charlie pause to think. If anything, I think it might cause Charlie to delay signing with NC State until he had a chance to better evaluate the opportunity at Oklahoma State. There are a few SEC schools, Tennessee included, that would be more of an inducement for him to change his mind. He and his family have pretty strong beliefs in standing by a commitment, so I'm thinking he is in the same boat as many young men in the next couple of days, agonizing over a decision.

NC State is not a bad choice. TOB is great with QBs which in turn helps their WRs. He's taken a few guys who weren't heavily recruited and turned them into decent pro prospects
