You already know if you believe the VN insiders but you may not have given it much thought.

According to the VN insiders (among others), Autry told our coaches he was a Vol. However, he didn't go public with his pledge because he didn't want to. The coaches knew this.

But the VN insiders had to have gotten their info from somewhere right? UT coaches or Autry's circle of trust are the only possibilities. Which do you think the VN insiders are connected to?

If they got their info from the UT coaches, and that info was made public, then the UT coaches didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

I don't want to call anyone a liar.. But how can anyone point fingers at Autry in this situation without questioning our coaches? Autry didn't publicly commitment to UT yet anyone who follows UT recruiting knows he had given his pledge to UT..

It's easy to see how Mullen could have used that to convince Autry that UTs coaches didn't care about what's best for him.

Didn't one of our recruits last year commit, then decommit a few days later, and then recommit? Was it Couch or someone else? The only reason I bring it up is that all of the anger we've been spilling on the board isn't going to help our coaches get this guy back on board. Hopefully, they can visit again and straighten everything out. If not, we're still in on a lot of great recruits.

I was trying to generate some discussion about this subject in a thread I started titled "silent commitments". I think this is an example where that strategy backfired but I also think the positives out weigh the negatives. I was hoping to get some guys that follow other schools to give the input on the subject as well.

He's not better than Sentimore and I'm not saying this as a bitter Vol fan. Sentimore is a nasty nasty D-lineman. I saw Autry get flat out pancaked in whatever the highlight video of their season that's out on youtube. Had me worried about his strength at the point of attack. He's gone now so it is what it is. Let's move on as fans if Jacobs follows him there's nothing we can do about it. I'm happy so far with our recruiting and I hope we can reel Sentimore and Otis Jacobs in. Damien Jacobs I want him too but the situation is what it is. They'll never play for anything bigger than the Egg Bowl at MSU. More power to them if that's what they want to do with their careers. I'm confident with the young talent we have and what we may sign we'll be back with Dooley or a different coach leading us. This is a much better situation to a coach now than what Dooley took on.

We can sugarcoat it all we want, but Autry was probably going to be the crown jewel of this recruiting class. Now with losing his teammate, the potential of the class takes a major nosedive.

I wish he'd pull a Cyrus K from NSD last yr where he committed to auburn on tv then pulled the. Weeellll I'm not sure. Then ended up at bama. They have all the luck. Get all kinds of commits and get a second shot at the NC when they didn't even win their division
