'12 JUCO DE Denico Autry (MSU signee)

I'm not sure the average Vol fan even knows who these kids are.

And to me that's a problem.. you think bammers know who Eddie Goldman is? Our fanbase needs to get serious about football and demand greatness, if not, we'll just stay 5-7 or 8-4 and be irrelevant..

It sickens me because I think Tennessee is a top 5 program in the damn nation, WE ARE 2ND behind bammer in the sec! I hate bammer but, that says something.

GO VOLS! I'm pissed..

Until he signs I will hold out hope that he wakes up one morning and realizes he just committed to Miss State and then changes back to us. I really want to just wait until signing day to get back on here but I can't help myself.

I doubt that (referring to top 3). But that's just me.

What's your reasoning? DE was our worst position last year. Only someone at the safety spot could have been potentially more valuable than Autry. Autry is an immediate impact player - not only that - but he's an elite JUCO prospect... not just a filler.

The only committed prospects I would have comparable to him would be McNeil and Santos at this point.. maybe O'Brien. But only McNeil has a shot to play next year.

He's not better than Sentimore and I'm not saying this as a bitter Vol fan. Sentimore is a nasty nasty D-lineman. I saw Autry get flat out pancaked in whatever the highlight video of their season that's out on youtube. Had me worried about his strength at the point of attack. He's gone now so it is what it is. Let's move on as fans if Jacobs follows him there's nothing we can do about it. I'm happy so far with our recruiting and I hope we can reel Sentimore and Otis Jacobs in. Damien Jacobs I want him too but the situation is what it is. They'll never play for anything bigger than the Egg Bowl at MSU. More power to them if that's what they want to do with their careers. I'm confident with the young talent we have and what we may sign we'll be back with Dooley or a different coach leading us. This is a much better situation to a coach now than what Dooley took on.

Well said, Fred...I mean Breakerboy!

The hate on this board is insane. A kid makes a decision he feels is best for him and he becomes enemy #1. Talk of shady recruiting, we did not need him, any player who picks UT will be better all sounds like a bunch of 5 year olds who had their ball taken from them.

Sometimes back to back losing seasons and talk of players throwing games while the coaches sit back and just roll with the punches will hurt recruiting and trying to land the better talent. As UT fans, we can ignore it or say it is not happening and we are still Tennessee. The fact remains, most outside UT see it as a doormat right now.

Your a troll.

The anger towards him is misplaced. So he doesn't want to come to a team that is 5-7 and lost to the worst ****ing Kentucky team of the last 15 years? Darn him, that selfish SOB...because he didn't come here he isn't that good. Forget the stars and rating he has by his name that people usually focus on.

NO, he wants to go to a 6-6 team that beat La Tech in OT. Great argument.

I was just wondereing if his juco coach had something to do with this abrupt change of heart. I read somewhere that he (the head coach) was pushing for them and had connections to msu.

I hope this young man made his decision on what he wanted, and not on what someone else wanted for him. I don't begrudge a recruit for choosing another school. You don't get everyone you want. But if he has been telling the coaches he's a Vol only to drop this on them today, then I do not respect his refusing to take their phone calls. If he feels the coaches lied to him, like someone previously suggested, then he could at least take their phone call and tell them that. I hope, for his sake, that there was nothing shady going on either. None of us know all the facts, unless Autry reads this board, but if he made this decision because he truly felt more comfortable at MSU, then good luck to him. Not the decision I would have made, but I admit to being biased. I hope he's happy there and wish him success, unless he's playing us. In those games, I hope he fails greatly. At this point, I just hope D. Jacobs stays committed. Hopefully Autry isn't in his ear about joining him at MSU, or if he is, I hope Jacobs tells him hell no.

In the end, this is how recruiting goes. It sucks when you think you have a great player locked up only to have him choose someone else. In the crazy world of recruiting, he still has time to change his mind. Hopefully he's having Big Orange dreams right now or nightmares of having to listen to those damn cowbells all year. That alone should make any kid reconsider MSU, lol. But it is what it is. Hopefully we can get in on HS DE that will choose us come NSD. Worst part to me, losing an EE. Having a guy in for spring practice and the strength/conditioning program cannot be underestimated.
