Very true, but with the difference in their attitudes Mitchell could end up producing more with less in the long run.

This is true. That guy amazes me, what a waste of freaking talent.

BTW: calban would you email me I have a few questions, and I think you may be able to help some. Chrisinrockytop@aol.com
Thanks.

Go ahead guys send all the spam you want.

i like our chances gettin a lazy guy in martins system. A few workouts with maymon and stokes in the post would probably fold a lazy hs kid and i bet pushes him in the right direction. I want mitchell badly!

Mitchell would definitely be a solid addition to this class. I'm hoping Reese has to go to prep school so that we can rethink that one. JMO

I agree he'd benefit greatly by being around and working out with Maymon and Stokes.
The kid's intangibles are thru the roof.
If you listen to his interviews he's always talking about team and getting better at his game.
with his out going personality he's the kind of kid that can lift the spirits in a locker room when things go bad and add some glue to the chemistry.
He'd also be one of the guys working in his own time to get better.
Like to see Martin pull him in.

I would love to add Mitchell as well. We would have such a dominant and deep post presence...

Per Rivals.com January 25th...

Four-star big man Charles Mitchell has a core group of schools who have recruiting him over the long haul and a few who are trying to get in late. Very soon, he will decide which of the group he will officially visit.

Mitchell will soon narrow his list.
Cincinnati, Florida State, Maryland and Tennessee have been quite visible at Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler High School game for Mitchell according to his travel team coach Peaches of the Worldwide Renegades.

Georgia and Seton Hall, whom Mitchell has unofficially visited, are also prominent in his recruitment.

Newcomers to the mix are Memphis, Virginia and Mississippi State who have recently shown strong interest in Mitchell.

A couple schools enjoy an advantage of having close friends of Mitchell who will be on their 2012-2013 rosters.

"Charles has been up to Tennessee at least three times," said Peaches. "And now they have his good friend Jarnell Stokes. Charles and he talk almost daily.

"Charles definitely wants to get up to Cincinnati, Florida State and Maryland for officials. Then he has to decide what to do with those other two visits. Memphis has a good shot at one of those because Damien Wilson is going there. He and Charles pretty much grew up together."

Mitchell, the No. 76-ranked prospect in the Rivals150, will determine his visit list soon after he takes the SAT this Saturday.

As far as how his senior campaign is going, Mitchell and his Wheeler squad have hit tough times with the loss of two senior guards to academic ineligibility. Mitchell, however, has picked his game up with three 20-plus games in his last outings.

Last I saw things aren't looking good with Kingsley. Mitchell would be a huge pick-up. I hope CCM can land this guy... especially if he and Jarnell are good friends.

Yea I posted that about Kingsley, chances are pretty slim, and getting slimmer.i definitely say add Mitchell if possible, we aren't looking good on many centers for next year, so take him if you can.

So, does Mitchell have serious motor problems? I just got some info that Memphis will make a strong push for Mitchell if we miss on Tony Parker. I like our chances as Mitchell is lifelong friends with Damien Wilson, however, I'm not sold on signing another slow-motor, below-the-rim big man that will take time to mature. We've got one of those already (Stan Simpson) and he never sees the floor.

My guess is as good as yours, he does appear to be slower and somewhat out of shape but I could be dead wrong. Could be an interestIng recruiting battle if Memphis gets involved with him. He had been looking like he was all UT for awhile now as long as we made a spot for him.

I really don't think its his motor, I think he just gets to tired. I have watched him enough to see where he just needs to be in better shape.

ah makes sense. he looks from video and picture to just have a high body fat %, but sometimes its hard to tell unless you see it in person. thank you for the info.

get him into a college program and diet with the conditioning they do and that guy will be in top shape before long.

If he's that out of shape, I just don't see him making an impact for any d1 team his freshman year. Even the kids in top shape (Stokes, for example) still take a while to get acclimated to the intensity of a full-speed college game. A kid that struggles with conditioning in HS may take a whole season to reach the point that he can contribute to a high major.

Explain the Stokes example.

I agree with your point, but I don't think Stokes is the best example. He hadn't played competitive bball in quite awhile so I doubt his conditioning was at a high level.

the entire UK basketball team disagrees with this.

What???

UK is almost unstoppable now that their freshman have found a feel for the game.

They lost to a mediocre Indiana team early, and now they're dominating. That pretty much supports my point.

For a guy with almost 5000 posts in 5 weeks on a basketball forum, you don't know too much about basketball.

this was your quote:
"Even the kids in top shape (Stokes, for example) still take a while to get acclimated to the intensity of a full-speed college game"

it clearly took teague, gilchrist and davis ZERO time to get acclimated to the intensity of the game. if it had taken them time to get acclimated they wouldnt be #1, and they wouldnt have 1 lost. you point to the @indiana 1 point loss as saying that these guys werent acclimated? what about the wins vs NC, St. Johns, Penn State and Kansas???those were prior to indiana!!! they clearly were acclimated enough to win those games. Kansas was a top 10 team in the country they were playing their 2nd college game against and won, how can you say they werent acclimated???

my point was simply that freshman are capable of coming in and not needing time to acclimate to the game, some of them are just that good. most freshman do need time, but there are quite a few each year who step right in and are d1 ready, as evidenced by UK each year.

UK freshmen had all of summer workouts and the fall workouts to get acclimated.

ok if thats all you were talking about then alright, the way you worded that even top freshman take time to get acclimated to the intensity of a full-speed college game, that makes it sound like in game experience.

then you went on to point out indiana as they werent yet acclimated to the game. why say that if then in your mind they were acclimated during summer workouts?

they were acclimated in the summer, were still acclimated in the 2nd game vs kansas, were still acclimated vs NC, and then werent acclimated at indiana, but then after that game were acclimated?

thats not really making any sense. you say they have all summer to get acclimated, yet earlier you point to the indiana game as saying they werent yet acclimated, but that after that game they were? thats kind of being on both sides of the fence there.

Mitchell received a qualifying test score.

A Tennessee assistant coach was at one of his games last week.

Looks to be between Tennessee/FSU ATP

thanks for the info. would definitely be a nice pick up for the 12' class. would allow ccm to really focus on the 2/3 position guys in the '13 class that he's after as well as nichols.
